I'm feeling like its time for me to make space in the lair, so I thought how my clan believes in exalting dragons to their deities. Truthfully, I'm not a fan of exalting, especially that already felt natural to my clan, and I'm curious what everyone's clan believe about exalting dragons, dragons that are purposely trained to be exalted and/or, if any, strongly connected dragons that you loved.

Personally, my clan believes a dragon is exalted when they feel that they are served their clan all they could and are able to return to their individual deity. No one knows what happens to those who leave the clan to return to their deity and believe that the dragon's skills and strengths that they have developed in their clan are transferred into a newly hatched hatchling in their elementary territory.

Exalting is a huge part of the site's economy so it doesn't bother me much. I personally exalt a lot myself, it's a great way to make money! It can be a bit disappointing when I sell a dragon I used to love a lot gets exalted though. But I can't blame the people who exalt, they bought it so it's their dragon and they can do what they want it with lol

But lorewise, my lair is a trading clan, so I always imagined fodder dragons who go through my lair being merchants passing through the clan :0 which is my explaination for why you get money when they leave! When it comes to old permas though, exaltation in my clan generally means death or that dragon moving away and loosing contacts with the clan.

I tend to exalt dragons I don't want anymore but don't really want to sell. Sometimes I'll sell my unwanted adults for adult fodder prices, but most of the time I just exalt.

Most of the time, in my lore, exaltation has more to do with going on, like, a journey of enlightenment from which the dragon will not return. Only in two cases - a pair of Imperials I used to own - did it mean that they passed away.

Hey, friendly reminder to drink water, stretch, and take a short break if you can. Stay healthy! Also, don't forget about any chores or tasks you might be putting off.
When a dragon is exalted from my lair, they are going off to work for whichever deity they got exalted too. Some are on special research assignments, others are just doing grunt work. Its like humans going off to college and moving away, getting new jobs, having a new life, in a new city. Its a good and necessary thing. =D

Most of the time, I view exalting the same way it is done in lore- a position of honour, where the dragon goes to help the deities. The work depends on the deity in question- for example, dragons exalted to the Arcanist work on researching magic, dragons exalted to the Plaguebringer work on creating and spreading new diseases, dragons exalted to the Stormcatcher maintain the electrical infrastructure of the land, etc.

Occasionally, I will use exalting in my own lore to mean death, but most of the time it is seen as helping the deities.

The way I think for my clan it goes is that they bring in hatchlings who's clans can't or don't want to take care of them and instead of wasting all the space on these hatchlings, when they are old enough that it is safe they are taught the basics of fighting and defending themselves and then sent out on their own in a better position than they would be if they were just thrown out there with no training by themselves.

In regular life, I embrace exalting. It's a good money maker.

Generally, for my lore, exalting might mean something different. My dragons love the Shadowbinder deeply and would do anything to serve her, that includes raising other dragons to send and help her with her cause.
And sending their own children to her.

I do like to accept other peoples Lore, so that if they own, and then exalt a child from my Lair, then they are still true to that dragon owners ideas. Even if i dont particularly like their lore, (but that has never really happened)

My lore has the vaguely, probably controversial trivia though; If in the super rare chance a dragon I sell ends up unnamed and exalted anyways, then That dragon is food for the deity it was sent to. its been eaten.

A dragon dressed up as bubbles and fish that has a Bio full of lesser known tips and tricks to Flight Rising
Exalting is like going to live in a religious community, only you get to actually physically interact with your deity on earth. It's pretty cool.

I guess the general idea (for me) is exaltation = death, but not killing. It's kinda a ritual where a dragon feels they've reached the end of their life and takes a pilgrimage to the deity, a journey they won't return from.

I base my clan's lore pretty heavily around what's shown on the site and through stuff like BotE. My dragons are working on projects to benefit the Stormcatcher. Almost everything they do is in service to the Boss, but they don't actually get to work with him or meet him. He's just a distant figure who hands down orders from the Tempest Spire.

I don't think my clan is unique in having a large portion of it's dragons be from elsewhere (AH, found eggs, ec.) rather than something I bred myself. They already left their home clan to wind up here. It's not hard to imagine them leaving my clan to continue on their journey. Being Exalted is a bit like being promoted up the chain of command, they go to work directly for the Stormcatcher in the Spire or elsewhere.
