Flight Rising Discussion

Discuss everything and anything Flight Rising.
TOPIC | But what if: Actual dragon subspecies?
Presumably, the different types of Dragons would be considered species, like how lions and tigers are different species of the same genus, rather than breeds, like dog breeds, shh they have the bab with MAGIC, does this mean they would have subspecies?

Perhaps each species would have 11 subspecies for each flight, (maybe Bogsneak would have 12), with the adaptations to said flight? Would they be different subspecies by their element or by where they live? A Fire Tundra Dragon could wear that arctic apparel set to stay warm in The Southern Icefield.

But on the other hand, if this Fire Tundra Dragon was hatched in The Southern Icefield, would it be born adapted to the cold and harsh climate though still being of the Fire element? Or would it be born adapted to the hot and harsh climate of The Ashfall Waste, due to its Fire element?

Discuss.

Well, it'd be at first adapted to the element it's born as, but adapt over time to it's current area.

I do think there are different breeds!
I haven’t thought about it much, but I have thought of these:
-only water, ice, and nature native Guardians have gills
-for every species, there is a water breed with gills, except bogs because they are great at holding their breath and water and nature native bogs can also absorb water through their skin.
-dragons who have long bloodlines in lightning are often part of a rare breed with scales that have a rubbery coating that protects them against electricity.
-mirrors have the most variation between different flight breeds. Some of their unique adaptions are as follows:
•in Earth, they are built more like Saint Bernards, with strong legs and sturdy bodies so they can handle mountainous terrain.
•In shadow, they see awesomely in the dark but depend mostly on their heat vision when it’s bright
•the reverse in Light, but they also tend to have very shiny scales.
•in water they have gills and more streamlined bodies, and fins.
•in Lightning, they are skinny and long legged, and build like sighthounds so they can shade down gazelles and stuff.
•wind mirrors spend much more time in the air than the rest of their brethren, and have bigger wings and smaller, lighter frames.
Etc

@felisaries hey, check out this link!
I thought of it when I saw your thread and I really like this idea too :D

I wonder how Water Ridgebacks would look like, considering they hate water... Maybe they're more adapted to the coast?

[/quote] I was actually thinking of that thread while making this one! ^u^ And maybe Water Ridgebacks would have like, water-resistant scales and fins? And less of a dislike for water. Maybe they'd be kinda neutralish to water, I guess they'd like water.
