I just don't understand

For so long I figured it was 'Plundering' as in, the pile was for the purpose of plundering, however, having it as the tense plundered, means its forever in the state of the use having been fulfilled. The first just makes more sense.

The pile is plundered, and now we plunder the plundered pile, Pinkerton's Plundered Pile.
