Are there particular names for female and male dragons? I just thought of this because you would call a female horse a mare and a male horse a gelding or stallion. This is for some lore I'm writing, thanks!
Edit: Heyyy 1400 forum posts whoop whoop!

Here's the distinction
Female: Dragon
Male: Dragon
I've seen some different names for em but personally I'm of the opinion that there's no need for distinction

I use "dragon" and "dragonness" to distinguish the genders for lore purposes.

I dont like dragon and dragoness because we call dragons generally dragons and it bugs me that one sex gets to be the default in that scenario. But then, i also like that they are both just dragons.

waaah my signature broke and i dont wanna fix it rn
I usually call them dragons as a collective, but apart, males are dragons and females are dragonesses. :3 I just find that distinction fun, and “dragoness” sounds really cool in my opinion.

Drake to me implies a different sort of dragon -- usually smaller and maybe with no wings so I wouldn't use that.
I just say "dragon" lol.
