[EDIT: asked and answered, you guys are great]
As much as I don't like thinking about The Fae Neck Thing, I've been thinking about the Fae Neck Thing, and wondering... according to the numbers, are female fae typically longer than male fae? Or are they differently proportioned in other ways, so it evens out (ie, the artwork is a bug rather than a feature)?
Of course, the problem with trying to collect size data is that they have variable lengths to begin with. Also, I don't math good. But I think, maybe, if two specific fae had a lot of offspring, I could chart whether females tended to be longer, or whether it was evenly distributed.
I breed my dragons pretty promiscuously, so they're not a lot of help. But if someone has two fae that have had lots of babies with each other, and no one else, I could work my way down the list of offspring. FOR SCIENCE!
