I do think it's a reaction to FR being way bigger than they ever planned and trying to find another way to provide the ever expanding userbase with a way to get something new that would satisfy the itch that a good majority of players get. I don't think they regret making the apparel system, but I do think they've realized that they have to adjust the way that they create new content.

Exactly. I don't mind not being able to have apparel, really. I only use 1-3 pieces on most of my dragons anyway.

Plus a way for them to push their creativity since they don't have to be bound by the limbs/wings rule.

Yeah ^^
Must really suck trying to get new modern breeds out, and all the players seem to be rushing them.. that's a [i]lot[/i] of art they have to redraw/readjust. I'm glad they're giving us something to keep us preoccupied while they work on that new breed.
