I like this idea
Uh faes and coatls literally can't communicate with each other. At all. The end.

Pearlcatchers have a thick neck/chest because they swallow their pearl when their hands are full or they need to add layers

Faes are imperials' personal hair stylists. An imperial can have to 10 faes working on their mane.

For pearlcatchers, vomiting in general is a sign of mental growth.
Another PC one: if they experience a traumatic experience they won't vomit that black mucus stuff on their pearl but beside it. Nobody wants to keep bad memories right?

Spirals have allergies. This is why their flying is so chaotic. They're sneezing every dang time they fly through pollen. (inspired by that one thread about the green from wind is pollen). help them

Mirror hatchlings, ironically, can't pass the mirror test (they don't recognize their reflection as belonging to them and see it as another hatchling). While this is typical for almost all babies of any species, mirrors seem to take the longest of all dragons to accept their reflections as part of themselves. Even adult mirrors, under stress, may react with hostility to their reflections, something the most urbane of the breed find deeply embarrassing.

Nocturnes, on the other hand, recognize their reflections almost right after hatching, and playing with reflective surfaces helps them develop their natural talent for mimicry.

Tundras tend to be perplexed by their reflections, since they have no easily recognizable scent, and their own appearance tends to be unfamiliar to them. This can be especially troubling if they have recently undergone a gene change.

mirror hatchlings are called puppies. they act like puppies. they're even born with a thin layer of fur and even as adults, you can still feel their fur. tl;dr big four-eyed shark dogs

Not an original idea- came from a forum thread a while back that I'm too lazy to dig up- but: Nocturnes mimic the voices of lost/far away loved ones to remember them.

One of my own: Fae and Coatl need to use sign language to have any prayer of communicating.

I like being pinged, but not mass ones.
I often process thoughts by writing... Trying to TL;DR more.

Some eternally youthful dragons still have the voice of an adult dragon.

Imagine seeing a cute little hatchling, expecting it to have a cute, squeaky voice.. and then it has a deep, booming voice.

Regarding forum games, please only select dragons who have familiars - those are the permanent residents of my lair. Feel free to look through the hibernal den, too
Aw heck yeah I got some headcannons!! :D

Guardians can live in any and all liquids and some younger guardians make bets with eachother to see who can live in a certain liquid the longest. It's quite popular to challenge other guardians to live in a pool full of juice, and it's always in good fun.

Skydancers tend to spend countless hours preening their feathers and skydancers who trust you will let you preen their feathers, or will try to preen your fur/scales. They are masters of styling fur/feathers/scales and often love to do this for other dragons.

Wildclaws tend to have chew toys that they use when teething and also to get them used to chewing meat. They are gifted to them early in their childhood and they keep them with them as a good luck charm or sentimental item. Some wildclaws consider the task of choosing a chew toy for their child a very important choice since wildclaws keep them for their whole lives and think very hard about which one they get.

Snappers love sitting in warm mud and will do it for hours on end. It's soothing and relaxing, and keeps them looking fresh and fabulous. Some snappers get together and sit in warm mud while talking about their lives and the going-ons in their clans and consider it a near sacred ritual. They especially enjoy doing this when the sun is shining bright and there's a cool breeze blowing with some snacks to much on.
