I've been here for almost five years (!!!! Gotta start on that 5-year anniversary mass hatch) and yet I've managed to have such a tiny presence on this site. It helps when I take breaks from FR, less people who wonder where I go, but at the same time, it's a little boring only having you and your dragons.
Now that I'm slowly falling out of love with FR, I feel it's time to shake things up a bit to regain interest; I've done quite a bit game-wise, like make a coli team, max out gathering, have breeding pairs, take on and abandon a familiar collection quest, opened at commissions, made UMAs, gened gen1s, wrote needlessly complicated lore... But now the game is lacking in new and exciting things to do, so I've decided I wanted to do something I really haven't before... namely, actually have some sort of presence in the game. And it's not like I've never posted on the forums until now, but man do I have some serious catching up to do.
So how does one do it? Be weird? Shout a lot? Make funne memes? Regularly chat?
Exclusively hoard Imperials?

But I really just want to get active in the FR community, since I've never really done so; I wanna be able to exist on the forums and chat with people without still feeling like a stranger to almost everyone except for maybe 10 older users who know me from 3 years ago. New friends, and a hopefully decent reputation so people don't question what I'm doing, haha.

be interesting on the boards, give crud away, collect unusual dragons... (I'd recommend jewelry box fae) Breed and or gene new blood for said unusual dragons. I converted a boggie into a jbf myself... find a place in the boards to belong and run with it. Or just be quirky...

I'm not popular, but being regularly active on the forums would work. Just replying to basically any forum you find interesting. I think you'll need some kind of signature aswell. (for instance @/HenryTheArcher's undying love for imps.)
Anyway, be patient. We'll be getting ancient breeds pretty soon!![emoji=coatl love]

Usually, a lot of the well known people on FR usually stick to their specific niche. Like Henrythearcher and their imperials, or DeadlyInformant and their monthly festival raffles, or Zetore and his (oh lordie) huge mass hatch.
Some of the older players like Zalvador and Sunshine became known for their lairs. (Zalvador had some edgy clan lore, and their name gets thrown around a lot by writers.) Sunshine had a lair full of (surprise surprise, xxx sunshine dragons.)
(A lot of RP/joke FRD threads get posted in a lot, and so there's usually tight little communities there.)
Honestly, as a suggestion, it's a lot easier to do what you want on FR than on other rpgs like this, so go out there, and find something that you personally enjoy. I was super worried about the superficial part of forum posting (i.e. the number of posts I had) for a while, and that made me really anxious when making any sort of post, but I've found that after letting that part of me go, it's been a lot easier to have casual conversations.

i dont exactly support the idea of
trying to get popular buut
if you really wanted to, you could do a name-change poll and let people write in their own suggestions, whatever has the most votes has to be your name until you can change it again
if you want something new to do, try a
nuzlocke and maybe write some lore around it
but if you feel a little bored of fr, you can always take a little break and come back when you miss it

Being different or standing out is generally makes a "popular" user.

I’m not sure if i count as a popular FR user, but there’s a reasonable amount of people who seem to recognize my username :’D
I have the feeling thats mainly because of the amount of accent contests I’ve won though.

I have no clue what could enhance your presence site-wide beside posting on nearly every single thread you come across, or doing something really unique with your lair, but you can try to become 'locally well-known' by organising things for your flight, for example. It'll be easier to get noticed, plus by doing work people will probably appreciate what you do and won't mind referring people to you.
Being recognisable probably helps! Like, have a clear aesthetic, make your forum posts more unique by switching up the format a little, do something iconic. Hoard a weird type of dragon. Or do something impressively difficult, if that's your style. Talk a lot. Just... be active, friendly, memorable and fun and you'll get there! :D
