I know some people say that some not every exalt is a warrior sent off to die, but what about the ones that are?

In large-scale son battles, does it leave massive battlefields scattered with dead warriors where they all fought?

How much death occurs between flight borders?

I'd say a lot of them. Dragons that are sent off to fight will of course die. I think the numbers have decreased over time due to stronger peace establishements among flights (we have flight reps after all). In each dom battle, assuming every dragon that gets sent to war die, we have about 35000 dragons from each flight, based on some old statistics I found in forum posts on their flight exalting numbers. Dying dragons are the reason emperors exist.

Death is definitely an option. The entire world of dragons is heavily focused on competition and combat. From the Ancients, carving out a space in the once beastclan-controlled territories, to the modern dragons defending and expanding their own borders, there is a pretty high chance of death.

I believe it depends.

In my lore, a dragon elects to be exalted. I like to imagine that they decide to leave the clan and serve the Plaguebringer. Some of them will fight for the Plaguebringer, others will simply help her out.

The one case where a dragon didn't elect to be exalted was Grimsley. He died.

Regarding forum games, please only select dragons who have familiars - those are the permanent residents of my lair. Feel free to look through the hibernal den, too
in my lore, "exaltation" is public propaganda created by the leader to make dragons sacrifice themselves to her (she drinks other dragons' blood to survive). so while it's presented as the highest honour and joining the deities, in reality, it's just murder

i figure that at this point in time (this point being prior to the bounty of the elements), outright war no longer occurs. when you've got nature and plague clans exchanging ambassadors and using the promise of MAD to keep peace, even if at the urging of other flights, that says to me that the realm as a whole doesn't want large-scale conflict. in previous centuries though? hell yeah. the description for amber mentions a war between the gladekeeper and flameforger. now though, the gods seem to keep to their shrines.

fallout from bounty of the elements will likely change that though
