alright, so it’s canon that Baldwin doesn’t just melt down entire familiars because... cruel, obviously, and that he actually just harmlessly takes tiny pieces of them; claws, feathers, etc.
but when they’re removed from your hoard, are you actually just giving him that one little nail clipping or handful of feathers? or, going based just off of the function and being literal with it, are you giving him the entire familiar?
...

does Baldwin just have his own private army of an immeasurable amount of familiars thanks to players all across the site wanting to brew down tiny pieces of them as a one-time-deal for each?
does he even have room for them all?
is he going to rise against the rest of us someday, overtake the site, charging on with a band of countless loyal familiars in tow?

most importantly, is he a good dad to all the familiars we donate to him?

was Baldwin behind the Familiar Uprising?

He would probably just set the familiar free.

@Amberclawed maybe, but i also don’t feel like Baldwin would generally be one to waste potential materials.. he likely brews often, and he obviously isn’t able to keep any of the materials that you bring to him, he just.. lets you use his cauldron; you take your stuff and go. i dunno, maybe

Maybe that's where Swipp & the Marketplace source their familiars, and what goes around comes around... :P

@CelebrenIthil ooh, maybe?.... i like the idea of that. i can just picture Swipp either going himself or sending Tripp/Pipp over to Baldwin to bring back a shipment of familiars... “lightly used” at a discount price.

@PlagueMaw i’m not sure if there’s any posts about it, but it’s official site lore that he only takes something from them like a handful of fur/cluster of feathers/something harmless/etc.
