i am much confuse by this development
is the new fest fam holding its belly,
or is that a gem it has arms wrapped around?

also, why does its icon show its belly/gemstone,

Well it is called a gem guardian so I'd assume it's holding (or 'protecting') a gem and not it's belly.
No clue 'bout the mini solar blades, though.
@KingScotty I assume that's the gem it's got its arms around. The leaf blade things seem to be attached to the filigree decoration/setting of the gem. The icon showing the gem is odd though... the only other exceptions to the face rule are the yetis and the NotN lamps.

I think that the Gem is the actual familiar that can manifest as the spirit we see holding it. I'm really excited to see what other types of gems they are. I wonder what type of gem the light gem is.

so i guess like those two it's some sort of spirit bound to that gemstone so ti can protect it
