... I swear to the Lightweaver I was actually here to make this post when i just saw another person also did a post on orca! It must be a day for killer whales...
Honestly. I get that orca is black and light colored like actual good ol orcinus orca and I love/respect that concept, but I'm sorry, that grey is just too grey for me. Why isn't it more... orca-colored? Seems like a bit of a waste of great potential tbh

Maybe that's just what Sornieth's orcas look like.
Imagination is the reality of our dreamscape.
Pfft it’s national thinking-about-orca day!
Honestly I think it’d fit the “Orca” name better if it was inverted (white on black instead of black on white). And the white does look a bit iffy to me as well but eh, not much we can do about it ;o;

I think Orca is Orca because of the pair of colors that it gives you is only reminiscent of its name-sake, not because of it's identical coloration of an actual orca whale.
We already have a White on the color wheel, so it's possible they deepened the color slightly to make it different. It's a unique color, since it's lighter than the other grey tones and not completely white either.
I think it's just called Orca for the similarities. Like how the "Dark Earth Tiger" tarantula got it's name. It's not a tiger, but it has stripes on its butt, so someone said, "Hey, that looks like a tiger." Wham, bam, poetry slam, we call it "tiger."

as a fan of orcas i also wish it was more orca.. i like this color, but i wouldn't mind if it had another name and then instead for orca we got a pure black with pure white accents

Black is already pretty much actual orca, but with less contrast.
But if you had the contrast, you would just have a false obsidian/white dragon.
