Do you convert food as soon as you get it, or do you only convert food before you feed your lair? I've been only converting food as soon as I feed my lair, but sometimes I think that just converting the food as soon as I get it would be easier.

I Coli'd for about a week and then converted everything I got. That was a few months ago, haven't run out yet. If I do I have about 20 stacks of each sitting ready to be converted

Only before I feed my lair when I notice it has run out. I convert food maybe twice a week and don't usually go much over 1k food points in each category.

I convert my food as soon as I get it if my stores are under 4000 units. If I'm at 4000 then I usually just sell them from the hoard tab.

When I run out in any category, I convert my entire hoard of that food type, minus valuable bits and pieces, which are vaulted. It usually lasts a good 4-6 months or so.

Same here, but I always leave at least one of everything in my hoard so I can give it to Crim if she wants it.

i found that coli gives out nice food and have been levelling there and using the food from my wins to keep my dragons fed!

i used to convert all food but after i pushed past 10k on each i stopped. it's been sustaining me for a few years now XD

I've made it a daily chore to refill the food stores every day after feeding my lair. I only convert a small amount each day, about 20 points over what is needed to feed them all.
I hoard stacks of food just in case it's needed for alchemy or Swipp trades. So that's why I don't convert it all at once. Also, giving myself the daily chore keeps me focused and gives me something to do every day even if I don't interact with much else.
