As I near my one year anniversary, I started to notice that I’ve lost the joy in playing Flight Rising like I used to. It’s seems like a chore now. I want to leave with everything that going on irl, but I’ve never felt as happy or I content with a game before like I have flight rising. Most games I play lose their playability and I get bored of them fast. I’m tempted to take a possibly indefinite hiatus after I finish my lore and finish my lair so that if I never come back, my lair is whole for others to look at.
For those of you who have thought about leaving, or left and came back, what kept you here?

I have stayed on FR for more than 6 years (discounting a few hiatuses that were a month long at most) because I always find new stuff to do. New apparel gets released, and I get the idea of a dragon I want to design. I buy a new UMA and need a dragon to go with it. I impulse buy a dragon and need to dress it. You get the idea. I'm constantly purging or revamping old dragons I've gotten tired of, and buying new ones to be excited about. To keep up with all my goals, I have to keep playing to get money and whatever else I need to accomplish them!
The other thing I like about Flight Rising is that it's a very calming game to play for me. It's a good break from stressful IRL things and it's pretty easy to avoid unpleasant interactions here if you don't want them.
It's also very casual- when I'm stressed IRL the last thing I want to do is play a game that has the potential to make me angry or upset, even if I would normally find those games fun. And if I'm extremely busy... the good thing about FR is that you can also play it at your own pace. Only have time for the dailies? That's fine.

This is what I do when I'm on indefinite hiatus. I cycle back into becoming interested in FR every couple of months, just like with most of my interests. So while on hiatus I just try to keep up with fests and such.

I've set up an absurd amount of G1 and/or breeding projects for myself, and I refuse to leave until all of them are done. Every single one.

I went on a long hiatus, might take another (though how long it'll be idk, the length of the first was not planned). What brought me back was having more free time and being curious about what had changed. A lot, it turned out!
What's keeping me here at the moment is... habit, tbh. Debating getting more serious about completing my oldie collection since price seems to be ramping up.

i left for little over a year and came back in late 2018, i guess because i wanted to see how the game was doing after i left for so long?
i honestly am feeling burnt out again, but i can’t make myself leave again. maybe it’s because i have projects to do and i don’t want to miss out on events and new releases? i dunno, but i agree that nothing makes me more content than flight rising ^_^
