Seriously, when I breed-scry a dude dragon, he almost always looks [i]stunning[/i] as a coatl. And he's not going to be a coatl, because even if I manage to have 2kg on hand when coatl scrolls next come out-- and that's a big if-- I already have a project it's earmarked for, and it's my One Big Project To Rule Them All. *grinds teeth* Oh, how those phantom feather-sneks haunt me.

You're in luck, because Coatl scrolls are not cycled! It's wildclaw scrolls that are cycled, coatl scrolls are always in the gem marketplace.

Male coatls are probably my favorite male pose. They're absolutely gorgeous and so easy to make pretty. All of my flight reps are planned to be male coatls because they just put everything else to shame.

Oh, really? That makes the One Project To Etc a bit easier, then.
I'd say the downside would be the constant temptation to splurge, but I don't even have the self control most of the time to save up for a tertiary gene, I don't think I have to worry there. [emoji=coatl sad size=1]

I feel ya OP, I just decided that the 2kg is worth it for a beautiful coatl boy, and now I need 4, maybe 5 scrolls. Then I decided to regularily stalk the AH and the For Sale forums for beautiful boys, and now I've given in and started stocking up seafood for the anticipated monolair.
