EDIT: This guide!! It's a life-saver!

The guides were too confusing to me, too, then I found this one. No "if tile 37 is dark, then click the second and third tiles twice while reciting the alphabet backwards" stuff there. Just simple "first row on the top half corresponds to first row on the bottom half" stuff.

Just... how do you faireground powerhouses get anywhere with this game? I can't figure this game out at all, tiles never do what I expect. I sometimes get to two tiles of one side remaining but then I can't get rid of those and the board becomes a big mess again [emoji=bogsneak deadpan size=1]

There's a few cheatsheets out there, oh, excuse me, "guides", that will tell you the exact solution. Some people claim to have memorized them, too.

Yeah, I followed the guides. Pick any guide in the forum and stick with one. Experiment and try to make sense of the instructions. It's okay if you took 30 minutes to complete your first game...don't quit. I took 30 munites and close to one hour for my first game as well. Know which works and which doesn't.
Soon you'll get the general idea and you'll have it memorised.
The steps are actually fixed. It has the general idea of:
If A condition--> Click XX
If B condition--> Click YY
If C condition--> Click ZZ
And so on. There isn't a lot to memorise as well (Hard Mode)

Don't feel bad if you follow one of the video ones and still can't solve the puzzle
Several of us are like that

THe easiest thing to screw up when following a guide is when it says go left to right, GO LEFT TO RIGHT! Or vice versa. If you don't consistently go the same direction when you're solving the lower half, you'll leave tiles behind.

Help I'm trapped in a signature!
At first it was difficult because I couldnt figure out the pattern, then I looked up a couple guides and - though it was annoying to flick back and forth between the game and the guide - I memorised the pattern so now it takes around 30 mins at the most to max fairgrounds.
Move top to bottom in the same direction, shift the tiles to the sides, double back when the tiles at the bottom get left behind, etc, etc.

That's how I go about it [emoji=nocturne winking size=2]
Everyone tends to do the very hard ones, but I think you can get about the same amount of money solving the medium ones, since they usually take a few seconds each once you get the hang of it
People tend to dislike this game because they're convinced it requires Big Thinking, when it's really just memorisation of patterns - start out clicking until you get a pattern for which you can then follow a guide. Eventually, you begin to memorise how tiles behave and can already predict which ones you'd have to click to get a desirable pattern

It's like when you first learn to solve a Rubik's Cube. Just follow a guide and memorize the algorithms.

I've followed guides and still mess up, still can't really figure the game out... so you're def not alone... orz
but yeah, look at the guides, watch videos, maybe it will help?

Definitely - except I'm pretty sure it's Hard that people have memorised! There's one solution that's literally three things to remember.
