Unless they bring some of the spreading meat with them and then cultivate it in their temporary lodgings.
Coming across a shack in the waste and go to get out of the burning sun.
Just to find it filled with ropes and tendrils of spreading diseased meat.
The meat itself is probably hungry as well. One might end up getting fed to it to keep it going so they can harvest it.
