I feel like ever since the Tidelord incident, almost every Water-related thing I see on the FRD is some sort of joke about our missing dad or something like that.
Please, please don't get me wrong! I love those joke! It is just that I want to hear about some of our other aesthetics and discussions. For example, I joined for the cosmic horror aesthetic Water has, with the Leviathan Trench and Fishspine Reef as some of the spookier locations. On the WFD we have a whole thread devoted to deepsea facts and marine life. It just feels like when I crawl out of the WFD all I see is "No dad" jokes and/or "Shiny tropical fish and pretty blues", I love these, I just want to see more, if you know what I mean!
I hope I didn't offend anyone in any way, I just wanted to explain something I felt. I'm not the best at articulating, but, I try. Good luck to all the Flights and their deities. Just keep swimming and avoid the deep end, friends!

You missed "What Water flight?" and "Water flight doesn't exist." Used be the go to joke before being overtaken by missing dad.
I think most flights have that one joke or one aspect about them that gets repeated ad nauseam. For Arcane it's always how it's the Arcanist's fault when something goes wrong. And don't get me wrong, I love Spacedad and I'm okay with a bit of mayham, but that view makes him sound so conniving when he's really just a bumbling old hermit who forgets to eat.
For what it's worth, if I wasn't in Arcane, I'd be in Water. Water's mysticism is very appealing to me and it's a side of Water that doesn't get explored much. I don't think we've had a single festival item that reflects that even though Water is known as the flight of oracles.

Honestly yeah. Wind's is literally fart jokes, for another example.
And to the OP, I'd love to see more of the deep-sea horror-like stuff too tbh. I love that stuff, just as much as any other part of the ocean, but it seems to be a bit overlooked on FR (or at least outside of WFD, from what you've said)

yeah, i agree with the 'every flight has its overstated feature'
for us, it's how we're apparently all viscious bloodthirsty monsters who want to destroy everything in existence when actually we just play life on hardcore mode and like soup.
c'mon, even windsinger supports us.

People forget to appreciate Arcane's cosmic horror and space aesthetic! Do you know how epic that is? Strange cosmic entities from space!

I agree as well. It's frustrating for Flights to be only "Gore!" "Fart jokes" "Pink/Crazy!" "Work" instead of their other aesthetics.

Honestly, I feel the same. I have dragons that are meant to be Leviathans, and yet most of the time I see "Look at the pretty rainbow fish~!" or "Lemme guess, they're edgy because dad's gone." Like, it's funny and all, but I love the idea of monsters of the deep, probably guarding long lost ruins taken over by the sea. For all we know, FR has their own Atlantis down there, guarded by the Water ancients (staff when) from greedy trespassers who may/may not blab to even greedier trespassers. Where are the long-forgotten ancient ruins? Where are the civilizations lost to the depths? Where are the greater horrors living in the Thousand Currents like our own Mariana's Trench? The entire ocean isn't the Caribbean, and the same goes for the Sea of a Thousand Currents.
But hey, some of it actually is, so keep those pretty rainbow darters and missing papas~! Just remember that the worst thing to encounter is the unknown, and there's a ton of that right on Sornieth, not just beyond the stars. All you need to do is take a little swim...

asejhdgkjahesla it frustrates me so much when people make that joke specifically. It's so gross... I love the wind flight's green aesthetic. The last thing I want to think about is... Well, that.
What I'm trying to say is I feel your pain. I personally really love the water flight aesthetic; from the shimmering shallows to the terrors that hide in the deep, I think the flight needs more love!

Hard same. I love the wind, nothing to do with the soft green aesthetic (though that's lovely too), and just hearing all of those jokes...squicks me a bit? I don't know, I don't like it.
The thing is though, people have tried to make interesting lore/flight philosophy discussion threads, and they all die. Only the jokes repeated over and over again ever seem to get any traction. It's sad, but it's true. People just don't want to think to deeply about the lore; joking about a stereotype is much less effort.
I could cite so, so many threads that have interesting or thoughtful lore topics that are incredibly interesting, but die after a page or two because no one ever answers. It's sad, but it happens a lot more often than I think a lot of people realize.
