TOPIC | (Hatchery) Named or unnamed?
1 2
i'm starting to plan out a hatchery, and while looking through some for ideas, i noticed some hatcheries pre-name the hatchlings they sell.

would this decrease their value? or make someone less likely to buy it if they don't like the name and don't feel like buying a renaming scroll? or do most people not care? i like to think i come up with pretty dragon names, but everyone has their own taste.

i'll be selling them for above fodder price so i'm not too worried about the whole exalt unnamed thing, it just kinda seems like a cute idea! but i also don't want to lose any money by doing so.

i would name them! renaming scrolls are very cheap, and even above-fodder price dragons can end up exalted. most people i know aren't put off by named dragons, and i personally don't care. i'll either keep the name or rename them later.

a stylized dayjar - restore hoardsold items.
- maki's festival guide & event calendar.
- uncheck "hoard... while scrolling" to unsticky your hoard.
- buying an apparel slot for a dragon unlocks it for all of your dragons.
I know some hatcheries name their hatchlings and then offer a renaming scroll for a discounted price, which sounds like a good compromise. I don't think it'd matter too much either way - it's pretty rare that someone has a really specific dragon name in mind for a hatchling, but wouldn't want to buy a scroll to rename them, so most people either won't care about the name or will be fine buying the scroll themselves.

Esme, a very red and Plague-themed Skydancer. A medallion depicting the Plaguebringer in profile.
I don't mind named dragons, since the scrolls are pretty cheap & if I like the name, it saves me from the trouble of not-finding-a-name

Not a fan of names tbh. I know people don't want unnamed dragons on their offspring lists, but it's annoying as a consumer, especially when the dragon is already 100kt+. At least that's my opinion.

I don't mind named dragons. As others have said, renaming scrolls are cheap & I make regular use of DOM shops to get them even cheaper. Plus, there's always a chance I like the name!

From a buyer's perspective... I have trouble naming dragons, so I actually think it's kind of convenient. If I have a specific name in mind, buying a renaming scroll isn't an issue.

From a seller's perspective... I recently started prenaming dragons I sell, and I haven't noticed any drop in sales.

If you have any issues at all with Unnamed dragons in offspring lists, definitely prename, as it completely solves that problem.

I prefer that fodder price dragons be pre-named. This way the name that shows up on your dragon's offspring list is something that you can live with.

If it's an expensive dragon, I prefer to name it myself.

Since name change scrolls are cheap, I don't mind if a dragon is named or not, regardless of whether it's a pricy dragon or a fun fodder find. c:

The only time I'd care about named v unnamed is if I wanted to buy an Unnamed dragon and keep it Unnamed. So basically never. I've never liked a dragon, but chosen not to buy it just because it's already named.
