I feel like I have the most uninspired dragon names ever. I have to name my dragons after something, otherwise it doesn't really sit well with me.

Name origins of my females

• Azuria (my picture) - azure + Azura from the Elder Scrolls Series
• Olivia - Named after a singer I guess. And it sounds nice.
• Skyla - her secondary is Sky + Skyla from Pokemon
• Nerissa - from a Shakespeare character and someone named after the Shakespeare character
• Talia - talon + Talia al Ghul from Batman

And my males:

• Jacen - Jace from Magic: the Gathering and Jacen Solo from the Star Wars Expanded Universe
• Azor - from the Azorius clan in Magic: the Gathering
• Sigurd - the Norse version of the name of the guy from the Ring Cycle; also the name of a guy in my "novel"
• Xande - a character from Final Fantasy, also a character in my "novel"

I wish I could move onto creative fantasy names like everyone else, but I don't really know how.

Also, all my girls' names end in -a, haha.

Mine are all from mostly Maori (but moving into more Oceanic) names from myth with my guys. I try to research names, but some of my names got mixed up because I liked the way they sounded better on certain dragons.

My names are terribly uninspired also. I can't come up with names...ever haha.

• Gwenavier: Self explanatory.
• Neptune: Random name button (I was still learning the site at the time, but his name has stuck).
• Stendarr: From skyrim.
• Echo: Randomly came up with this one. Not through the name gen.
• Elphy: From Wicked.
• Saphira: From Eragon.
• Odahviing: Skyrim.
• Realm: Same as Echo.
• Rhyme: Randomly generated.
• Time: Randomly generated.
• Serana: Skyrim.
• Nocturnal: Skyrim.

I just make mine up to be vaguely fantasy-ish. Exceptions being the Plague dragon now in a Lightning flight; Welchia who I named after a computer virus and Spine who's a character-based dragon.

Easy way to have fantasy names; find a syllable you like and spell it out. For my progentior I picked Quil. I then nailed more syllables to either side, swapping them in and out until it sounded cool. In the end; Quiliks.

My account name was originally created in a similar fashion, although this was a while back when I was making a Gnome Mage in WoW, with the root "Tinker", as he was going to be an Engineer.
Skip forward a few years and I was trying to think of a name for a Lightning Flight clan and I remembered my old lil' green-haired magical gnome. I kind of miss playing the lil'dude now.

Kimberly, Leonadris, Adelheid, and Yxi are characters of mine.

Rikwart and Squirrel came with their names and they stuck.

Susano is the Japanese god of storms, fitting for a lightning dragon :P

Adelaide was popped out by the random name thing and chosen because it's similarity to Adelheid made me chuckle. Dammeyer was also from the randomiser but chosen because it sounds nice. Dammeyer Dammeyer Dammeyer mmmm~

Coelestinus and Aoi are two different words for blue.

Azarel was just something nice-sounding I came up with.

And Flip was named for training / exalting XP

The majority of my dragons names are drawn from my geekiness in one form or another. Star Wars (Rancor, Arno and Aayla), DC Comics (my exalted dragon Dnagral was Lar Gand backwards, and one of my new ones, Dawlakispokpok, is the name of a Guardian from Green Lantern), Transformers (Blitzwing, Sixknight and Warpath), mythology (Erebus and Scylla) and such.

A few are random (Lemonade and Winter) and a few are either different words for or derived from a color (Arghavan, Roan and Azurelia).

One is my real name (Brandon) and one is going to be my username.

At some point, I'm going to have a pair of dragons solely to name the offspring after loved ones who have passed on and exalt them.

a lot of mine are from videogames of some sort... npcs, materials, locations, mobs. those tend to be my go-to for names.

nekhbet is a ffxii bird mob, and also an egyptian goddess often depicted as a vulture. i thought it was fitting for a wildclaw.
hannavalt is an npc from lineage 2.
ivarstead is a location in skyrim.
ichthon is a colorful ffxii fish mob.
hyne is an alt spelling of a location in lineage 2.
noblesse is a character class in lineage 2, also fitting because i imagine she'd act pretty princessy.

vespa is named after wasps/hornets because look at her. i also imagine her to be as mean as one.
meadowrue is named after the plant.
ashwinder is named after the hp creature laughs 5ever.
heck is named after hachaliah bailey, and his familiar is named old bet.

amberguard, grintorse, imeotzhu, vede, and cinderbone don't really mean anything.

i need to stop collecting dragons.
