I think most of us has had a moment when they started training a coli team, only to realize later that the elements of their dragons weren't considered good for the mire or any other of the big training venue's. What is one supposed to do then? Some might already gotten their dragons eliminates. Do they buy more and train some more dragons? Do they sell their old dragons even though they loved them? Or do you try to make your dragons work in those venue's anyway?
Well, if you belong in the last group, then you might have some difficulties. But not every element is as bad as the other. I took the time to see how good or bad each element is in all of the training venue's, starting from Boreal Woods.

Personal Recommendations
In the mire, it is not a good idea to use a dragon weak to Arcane element. This is because Psywurms are very fast and it is not possible to outspeed a pack of 3 of them.
Edit: Thank you Aesuna for confirming this.
With 117 strength, it is not possible to defeat brilliant psywurms (light) and Mossy Cerdae (Plague) with rally+eliminate. Most people recommend using scratch+eliminate for those. However, it is possible to defeat them with rally+eliminate if you have 119 str build.
In Kelp Beds and Golem Workshop, there are normally 2 dragons used to train 1 fodder at a time. Try to balance out any weaknesses if possible. Bad elements aren't as bad here as when training 2 fodder at a time.
With the introduction of a 1 trainer build for Kelp Beds, it is better to have a good element to use there. If you prefer to use 2 trainers, element is not that important.

Some important notices
- I only looked at the elements of the mages, as physical attackers need more turns to do elemental damage. Do take the weaknesses of your dragons into account.
- Salve Kamaitachi might be wind element, but they don't have wind element attacks.
- The percentages listed are the encounter chance in the venue's for the elements that your dragon is strong or weak against.
- I only looked at the damage that is dealt to your dragons, as most venue's won't use mages. If needed, I could look into this.
- I added bosses who happen to be mages, but they are rare encounters so they can be ignored. If your dragon is weak against those bosses, it is not recommended to try to fight them if your dragon does not have reflect. This stone is typically used in the Kelp Beds but can also be used in a Crystal Pools build.
Helpful links and guides
- I compiled all this through experience in these venue's and the element chart spreadsheet linked in this thread. I also used the percentages found in the Coliseum Encounter Project found here
- If you want to have an idea what elements are good or bad in other venue's, you can go here
- Since this is mostly concentrated on builds for fodder training, you can find a list of all builds here
