I wasn't really sure where to put this but I guess Off-Topic might not be too wrong for that.
So, back to topic! What I'd like to talk about with you is:

Worldbuilding and Character/Species Creation!
Do you create your own worlds?
Have any fictional species you created?
What about OCs (original characters)?

Personally I have several different kind of worlds which I love to build and add stuff to whenever I can. Most of my OCs are also living in this place. I randomly add stories, images and more to this ever growing world.
The whole process starts with one character who kind of drags along all the other stuff. If said character is from a real life scenario I rarely need to create a new world, of course. If the character is based in a sci-fi universe or high fantasy setting I first check if they could get added into an existing world or if I have to create something new. By following that process I spare my sanity from creating loads of worlds that all are somehow the same XD

My main world at the moment has a sci-fi setting with a slight dash of fantasy (magic like energies). Humans are now capable of space traveling thanks to an alliance with two xeno species (the word "alien" is a slur nowadays). The main story is a mix out of everyday human/xeno struggle and defeating a slowly rising evil which might affect the whole galaxy.

You could say, in general, worldbuilding is my favourite hobby. You learn so much by researching and developing your world/creature/OC.

Thank you for showing this to me! I have two OCs but now I have things to help me expand on them and improve granted one, Charge is heavily based on a fandom but I humanized him so now I can add to his human self.

Dunno what to put here yet.

My pleasure! "Just create" is more focused on original creations but it is aimed to help anybody who wants to develop their own characters and so on. As said, it's fairly young and needs users that enjoy to exchange experiences and tips but once it's big enough it will be a good place for all kind of creators to come together :]

I joined and for some reason despite my wanting to focus on Charge's military dress style all I can think of is him in a trench coat like he just walked out of Underworld. That style is suppose to be my other char, Alex's, Alex is a true OC in the fact that she has no fan history but her general likeness and personality has been used for RPs when needed.

Oh I had that situations quite often. You plan something for your OC (a style of clothing, behaviour, backstory) but somehow it just snaps and changes without you actually planing it. Of course, you could just go with what you planned but sometimes it just "doesn't feel right".

Well he has both styles right now, like her wears camo a lot but occasionally he wears Underworld-esque clothing. Like if he needs to seem particularly intimidating since he is the commander of a sort of Night Guard. Daytime him is nice and friendly, a real gentleman but you mess with him or someone he cares about(or is tasked with protecting) and you can't get far enough away.

Alex on the other hand is nasty almost all of the time unless you get to know her then she can be a pretty awesome person to be around.

*looks at her multi-verse*

I often feel like I've... gone a little too far into world building. To the point where, once I've built the world, I don't actually have any kind of OC or 'story' that I really wanna tell within it. Does that make any sense?

World building is addicting and fun. I only have one world at the moment, but it started with a blue fox/horse creature that an environment was built around. I just keep filling in the holes. (Of course, every time I add a new piece of information new holes appear.)

@Miashin

That makes sense, in my world I have so much history laid out that I feel a little silly any time I try to write about it. I know where it came from and where it's going that it seems a little tiring to focus in on a few individuals. That may also make writing about my world more interesting - I can't decide.

Oh yes I know the "the world's gotten too big" feeling very well. You have the whole world laid out and it's getting more and more difficult to tell a story when there is the option of loads of stories to be told with it. As StellersJayC said, it's hard to focus on a single storyline/character.

If it counts, my friend/co-owner @Jansither and I are working on worldbuilding for Ourani!
