I just recently got my first exotic pet.

He's a short tailed opossum and super cute! He loves to eat crickets and meal worms, and appears to be right handed. I just wanted to know if anyone else had a short tailed opossum. And if not, what type of exotic pet(s) do you own?

Is there a type you want to own? Have you ever worked with any exotic animals, or ever met one? I've done a lot with gray wolves. Share your stories and your pets below!

Sounds like a giant hamster! Aren't they like the largest rodent species on Earth? And don't they like to swim? I don't know much about them, but I've definitely heard around about them!

My little opossum is native to Brazil and feels like Velcro when he walks on my hands. He also likes to loop his little tail around my finger! Its super cute. He kinda looks like a rodent, but hes actually a marsupial.

I use to own hermit crabs! I don't know the species. Some of them would die off within a month, I had about 6 to start and ended with 3 that survived with me for over 4 years before I had to find them new homes because I couldn't take them to school with me! I had one really close call with one of my crabs once, where he was molting and was solid pure white, and he injured himself and his claw was bleeding a little. I didn't expect him to make it and moved him to a much smaller enclosure that I made PERFECT for molting. Made food right there and his sponge so there was almost no movement needed to get food. He ended up pulling through and survived!
