Since our esteemed artists have a thread about their pet peeves, I thought I would create one for writers.

I'll list some of mine.
1. "That's so good, you should draw "x", so I can see it better." Do you seriously think that I wouldn't if I could?
2. People adding their unwanted commentary to your work. Not talking about genuine criticism, but stuff like "Oh, that's so dark, you should make it pink, and fluffy!" Grrr.
3. That moment when you have a great idea, and are in the middle of writing it. And then...*poof*. It's gone. And you can't get it back by reading what you just wrote. Only for you to suddenly remember it days later, when the story is already done, and you can't fit it in without it looking like crap.

When you can't write what you're seeing in your head.

God yes. And you spend 1,000 deleted words in trying to write it, but still can't get it right.

THE INTERNET. Fr hasn't helped things. Sometime s I'll be in the zone, writing 1000s of words down with minimal changes and great plot. Than other days I'll just pop over to Pinterest for 'inspiration' and four hours later and two sentences later I've seen the latest news, a gif of a corgi, about a hundred funny memes, two really bad soulmate prompts, some art inspiration I'll never use and a video about how global warming affects the rabbit populations of Arfica.
Or when you come up with a great story idea and write some really detailed plot lines in your head and a few hour later when you go to write them down, the sentences aren't structured right, or are really clique and bad.

When you're listening to something while writing, but then the music gets really lit and distracts you

My biggest pet peeve is directed at myself:
I feel MUCH more accomplished when I write things out by hand, and I write better when I do so! (Even if I'm not online, that word screen is daunting and gives me such low productivity)
I do a better job with my editing because as I type it I edit, then do the final edit read-throughs.
I'm more to the point when I need to be because I've wasted less time on words because I'm too lazy to write them or not willing to waste paper on them.
However, that means I then have to actually... type... things... up...
Ugh.
I HATE typing it up.
I have the WORST time convincing myself to do that.
So most of the time my writing never actually sees anything other than the inside of a notebook.
Oops.
But, yeah, writing out by hand and a lack of discipline when it comes to typing!
Aargh.

Coming up with a really cool line/scene/phrase but it just doesn't fit in anything you write.

Being a writer with a dehabilitating fear of doing online research is literally the worst thing. I have dropped so many stories because I realized I would have to do research to finish them.

That writing is different from other art. I posted something there, applying to all forms of art, including writing.
But seriously, why is it (and music, as well as even more stuff), so different from drawin and painting, that people only think of drawing and painting as 'art'?
Anyway, here's my comment from the other thread:

Do not insist I show you my stuff before I'm ready to show you. I think that goes all kinds of art I think.
Needless to say, I do not write stories when other people I know could look at the screen. They just get annoying. Stop bugging me about unfinished, unrevised stuff.
