I just watched two of the prequel episode(the only two out so far) and I am so excited for this show. I have felt so many emotions in the last hour. It's an anime/manga, about a girl learning magic from what looks to be a windego, though they haven't said exactly what he is yet. The characters look so interesting, and I love the animation. They're releasing 3 prequel episodes before the actual show starts to air in October. I haven't watched the prequel ova yet(kinda wanna wait for the last one to be available so I can watch it all in one go) but I'm caught up with the manga and aahgghgh the emotions....I legit wanted to cry during the recent chapter lol. the art in the manga is REALLY good, too.
the animation and music were so nice in the trailer so I'm so stoked for the series this October *v* I hope it's just as good.

Elias has been only referred to as a Magus before(unless I'm forgetting something) but I've actually read theories that Elias is the first(only?) successful chimera, which is interesting and actually kinda makes sense, I think.

@1ttybittykitty *girly shriek* I didn't even know there was an anime! I've only read parts of the manga, and oh my goodness, it's amazing. I have to watch it, oh my gosssshhh ;___;

yea, we started watching the prequel episodes not realizing they were coming out so far apart. But it is totally worth it. A chimera makes sense, his design is definitely a mix of different creatures. I just think he looks like a wendigo because they're usually portrayed how he looks. Large humanoid with a skeletal head with horns. Eye sunk deep into their sockets.

that's true! :0 I'm a little ashamed I didn't notice for a long time haha

he especially looks like the common depiction of wendigo in one of his other forms, with the larger horns and what I'm assuming are rib bones? since wendigo are associated with famine and described as being all bony and such...(there's also another similarity but I won't say because it might be spoilers? I don't know if it was touched upon in the ova)so I wonder if that was inspiration for his design. it's very cool :0

also can I just say I love how everyone is freaking out about the anime announcement together haha omg

I cant wait for the anime, I'm all caught up with the manga currently. I love Ashen Eyes, I hope we get to see more of him <3

A trailer for the anime coming out in October was just released. (!!!!!!!!)

Here is the first animated trailer for the series in general. It's an overview of the manga's story and world. It's how I was first introduced to the series.

There are two episodes of the OAD right now, with the third and final episode on its way in September. The OAD is a prequel to the manga, with a story by the manga's author. Crunchyroll has the OAD with English subtitles. Here is the first few minutes of the OAD, with a trailer tacked on the end.

There are 6 volumes of the manga available in the US right now. The 6th volume also comes bundled with a special booklet with one story in it. Volume 7 comes out in July. As of right now, the manga has 37 chapters out.

For anyone new to the series, I strongly recommend reading at least a little of the manga before watching the OAD. The videos I linked to will not spoil anything (that badly?), though. The OAD will not spoil anything either, I believe, but it is just... icky to watch it out of order.

I like that they still included the scene with Elias holding Chise's chain...telling her she doesn't need to look down, to keep her back straight and her eyes forward. It's one of my favorite scenes honestly. I think about it when my anxiety gets bad and it helps give me a minor boost of confidence tbh ;;

October can't come soon enough!

I'd love to buy the volumes for myself but alas...I am a poor soul.....maybe someday
