I do not understand the rabbit hole I have currently fallen into but FYI, if you are looking for something amazing to watch on Netflix Trollhunters is the way to go. I'm completely astounded by how much I like it.
I'm a grown adult (going to graduate school next year), but I came across my little sister watching it the other day and let me just tell you - I figured I'd watch the first episode to see how I liked it... I've watched all 26 episodes (~30min each) in the past 24-hours. I'm not really a binge watcher, and I can hardly stand more than three hours of tv at a time, but praise that show.
The plot, fight scenes, characters, designs, twists and turns - it's all wonderfully detailed and well thought out. I could only watch the first three Harry Potters in a row with my friends when we tried to marathon them, but I'm honestly considering going for round 2 of this show now (albeit at a slower pace).
Why you should watch it, in summary:
- Do you like art? The designs of the backgrounds, characters, scenes is superb.
- Do you like action? Intense sword fighting sequences and training throughout.
- Do you like magic? Spells, curses, charms, and a magic suit of armor at the center of it all.
- Do you like stories? Deep backstories, character development, and relationship building galore.
- Do you like romance? A romantic subplot that barely distracts from the main plot - it feels natural.
- Do you like villains? Amazingly creepy and scary villains with different motives and methods.
- Do you like plot twists? Some are evident early in the story, but others develop unexpectedly.
- Do you like high stakes action? Characters can actually die; high stakes for an animated show.
(Feel free to suggest more.)
Don't get me wrong, it has some faults - but for an animated series it's going really strong already in it's first season.
Someone please go watch it so we can chat about it together; or if you've already seen it let me know what you think! I'm in the mood to discuss now that I've finished it!
