Hello let's be friends and share our experiences and anecdotes of post secondary.

Me, as an example.
- I drown in stress
- Prof held karaoke session on last class once
- Prof's mic ran out of battery, proceeded to oull out one of those large stick microphones from his pocket. it didn't work either. he then pulled out ANOTHER from the same pocket. It was like a magic show. very amusing.
- I major in psychology. My friends are all in biosci or engineering. They don't understand anytbing I talk about, and I, them. science is so diverse man.

Your turn now!!!

-what even is sleep? Psh, 8am lecture no problem (;-; wai my lecturer gotta be so mean)
(-engineering student so math is life but also boring a lot of the time)
-I live on energy drinks and spouts of motivation
-all sciences are coolio!
-only first year, but microphone thinges are so amusing, one of my lecturers mics were super quiet and then she turned it up and i swear my ears poped or smt cause was like "-AND THATS HOW ATOMS MOVE AROUND IN A LATTICE!"

- i'm not entirely sure of my time management skills still. no idea if i've stacked too many courses onto my plate for the coming semester (from sept) or nah. i've flunked a few courses too oops. 2 due to lack of motivation, 1 due to confusion and lack of info from the lecturer
- i'm in english philology (minor in foreign languages and cultures) and my roommate-at-dorm is in genetic engineering (dunno her minor, if any) (both bachelor's (which is 3 yrs here), she a year ahead of me and will be starting her 3rd yr & i my 2nd), Mmm Opposites
- my roomie was also the one to introduce me to flight rising hahhahahaha. im actually quite glad i get on with her rather well
- dormlife in general is.....something certainly. but then again i was in a high school w a dorm too, so i've kinda had this kinda life since 10th grade lol (except the hs dorm was free of charge)
- it is Torture when ppl in neighbouring rooms are too loud too late
- some lectures are super interesting. + i mean lectures arent mandatory (but seminars n practical things are) but i still try to attend as much as i can bc it's easier in a way then lol
- lectures are also really nice for handicrafty projects (or i guess drawin smaller things if yr into that) if not feeling the need to write anything down. i managed to crochet a granny square blanket last year, a lot of the crochetin' was in lectures. i'm also super keen on folding small paper cranes during lectures and such. i guess i could be easily recognized that way lmao
- my earliest lectures have been at 10(:15)am, but i'll have a subject with lectures from 8:30am on two days a week the coming semester, Thanks Basics Of Finnougristics
- estonian unis have no specific campuses, i think. at least not my uni. study & dorm buildings sprinkled all over the city, but at least my dorm, my main studybuildings, & the bus station (i go home by bus on most wknds) are in a triangle near downtown (the bus station itself is downtown) with about 10min of walking for each side of it. i'm glad.

"have you tried drink water"
-another victim to drowning by stress, im a filthy procrastinator
-incredibly thankful im a graphic arts student so i only have one lecture a week
-incredibly annoyed im paying so much to have literally 2 contact days (lecture and seminar for theory and then one crit on another day)
-im in uk so of course all my student loan goes straight into bevs
-my room next year is ground floor next to the laundry... kill me.
-literally only plan for next year is to not wait until day im moving out to throw out all the glass bottles that have accumulated in both flat kitchen and my room
-i just realised all this combined with my lair naming scheme isnt probably portraying a good image of health
-i promise i dont drink quite that much
-but i mean what else do you do at university tbh???

@Allergies

- My money goes to flight rising and school LOL
- Man what is it like to live on campus??? I have to take transit like 3 hours tota every day TT^TT
- What's crit? And man that's a good life. My course load is so intense with these new found mental health issues D:

@sneekiblin
- HIGHSCHOOL with a dorm? I didn't think that was a thing? WHen do you ever see your parents? ONLY on the weekend? Didn;t you ever miss them? Was there ever any weird things that would happen ? (it's highschool, so my gut tells me that a ton of drama must have occured in that context!)
- Wait, you crochet during class? WHat about notes??
- ...Funnel grit what now? Man, I'd never survive in a class that involves math with weird names like that

@ILUVDRAGONS
- Haha, I also luv dragons
- Aren;t energy drinks like, super bad for you????? Be careful friend D:
- Man, do you have that thing where you get hired by big companies for internships or something? All my engineering friends are doing that. It;s like you guys just run around screaming math all day haha

@Mintiani
-Yeah, Dragons are amazing :D
-Yes energy drinks are bad , but i need smt to wake me up and i dont like the taste of coffee so only real alternative source of caffeine is energy drinks ><
-I hear its like a scrapyard fight cause spots are super competitive for some of the bigger companies. The bigger companies give way more mentoring and guidance than some of the small companies, so you tend to get better skills in the bigger companies, but thats not always the case ofc. It mainly comes into play during second year, cause as a first year I dont have much knowledge to be useful in like a real work place setting? Or at least that is the consensus of the companies offering the internships.
-Also maths has become life, but some maths is cool imo (like for the coding paper) and some maths just makes me cry (the straight up calculus+matrixies paper was so hard)(oh and the mechanics paper was also hard)

To clarify what I mean by terms cause dif countries have dif rules/names/expectations:

Lecture = Sit in a hall and sometimes get cool people/person upfront teaching and listen to them try teach you things for an intense 50min (sometimes get monotone people and so boring but ah well). At my uni Lectures are mandatory.

Lecturer = Person who like lectures you in lecture hall/theatre. At my uni they're not necessarily classed as professors, as to get that title within the uni you pretty much have to have made a very notable impact of your field (and done like a bazzillion research papers and have them published in notable journals/peer reviewed stuff)

@Mintiani

- hahahha i'm actually quite ok with being away from my parents so ya, only on the weekend. but it also means i see the cat only during the weekend also ;-; and no pets allowed in dorm, so.
and i feel like hs-s over here (10th to 12th grade, abooout ages 16 tooo 18/19 given that one went to 1st grade at age 7) are chiller than (i assume y'r in the us from yr timezone & assumption lmao so,,,,,) in the us ahaha. dorm life was pretty chill then, at least for me. the dorm there was rather strict too, in terms of curfew for example, have to be in yr room by 10pm in that particular one, and i mean it's in the middleish of nowhere 15km from tartu with everything closed at night so why bother anyways. whereas my uni dorm just doesn't care about curfews as long as u don't bother yr fellow ppl there and it's Super Nice to me bc even tho im not really a party gal i still occasionally attend late night events in the city (mostly concerts or such)
the school's one of the few hs-s funded by the country or smth so i guess that's why the dorm's free there hah. and it has a dorm bc it's quite Prestigious™ in ppl's eyes and it Focuses More On The Sciences™ so ppl from all over the country tend to flock there to get some'o dat Sweet Knowledge™ (and then i still ended up going to the humanities in uni hahahahahha)

- oh hell yea, crafts 4 life, but only when i don't feel the direct need to take notes

- you mean finnougristics? not even math but humanities ahhahaaha
"Concise introduction into the linguistic and ethnographic research traditions of Finno-Ugric studies. Overview of Uralic peoples and languages, and history of Uralic studies." :B (finno-ugric i.e finnish, estonian, hungarian as the big dudes, then a bunch of smaller languages of ppls w/ no countries of their own strewn some around here and a bunch within russia)
that course's part of my minorthing, the foreign langs & cultures thing. decided to pick finno-ugric languages module as one of the modules from that bc it seems Interesting™

...and im gonna go visit my dorm apt today (as keys were not taken away from roomie or me this summer, which means we gotta pay for that in summer also, but it's ok since for both of us it's one of our parents paying for that stuff lol) because on wednesday some insect killing will be done in i guess all common rooms (not personal rooms tho) due to cockroaches in a few apts, and i wanna make sure my roomie's and my stuff will get into our room properly hah. she'll be in lithuania until thurs also, so that's more of a reason to do it

aand to add to the explanation of lectures, in my uni the lectures'/seminars'/practicalthings' length is usually 1.5h ahaha (usually beginning at 15 past an even hour (8am/10/12/2pm/4/6 i guess this would be the usual spectrum)

ok lots of ramblin now lmao

- I go to school in Iowa and the dorms are not air-conditioned, sometimes the 30-some of us on in my "house" sleep in the small, air-conditioned lounged. Slumber party every night, yay
- There is a free ice cream machine and there are contests. I built the best ones every time.
- I'm taking too many courses + I'm in orchestra rip
- I drink the library dry (of the coffee of course)
