Hello, Flight Rising!
So I'm a huge anime nerd. However, we all started somewhere. The first anime I ever watched was
Vampire Knight. My mother would never allow me to watch Naruto, Pokemon, DBZ, etc. due to her strange beliefs when I was a child. So I actually had to watch all of those later into my teens when I was able to hide things from my mother. (I'm 21 now, thank goodness for that!)
I remember Vampire Knight actually really drew me in. I'm not even certain how I stumbled across it now that I think about it. I have played animal sims since the age of 11 so I could have possibly seen it on a forum somewhere. Either way, that one anime got me hooked and on the road to becoming a lifetime anime lover/watcher. :D

I honestly have no idea what my actual first was, as I used to watch a lot with another kid in the hospital when I was going through treatments as a very young child (from early age 4 to about mid-late age 5).
But I think the first I really remember, and not counting heavily edited adaptations (like Robotech, Battle of the Planets or the original Voltron), was probably fan subs of "Transformers: Super God Masterforce". This was back in the days when it was still more common to be on mailing trees (where someone sends you a VHS, you copy it, then send the VHS to the next person on the list) because most internet was dial-up, if it was available in your area at all, and a single half-hour video took the better part of a day to download. A friend knew I was a huge fan of G1 Transformers and found someone with copies of the entire series, which eventually led to me getting on mailing trees for not only the other Japanese exclusive Transformers series at the time, but other anime that had not been released in the US yet.
Things got much, much easier when a Blockbuster Video opened (Yep, see, I'm old!) and they had VHS of many, many officially dubbed or subbed anime series.
I still love the old Japan exclusive Transformers series. I prefer that version of G1 over where the English version ends, and they introduced a lot of concepts that were eventually adapted in future incarnations of the franchise.

My first was Digimon Tamers back when it used to come on TV. It's still pretty fun to revisit every now and again for nostalgia purposes and because it's good, so you could still say I like it haha.

Probably DBZ. I used to watch DBZ with my dad every day after school when I was 10 or so. That was definitely a formative experience for my future love of the genre.

Hmm... I *think* it was Pokémon. It became a thing just when I entered kindergarten and we'd watch Pokémon then. *Feels old*

Hamtaro! I haven't watched it in ages, I have no clue how it holds up. But it was fun :) I was about 4 or 5, it was one of the shows I would watch on Sundays when we went over to my grandma's house. The adults would always tell me and my cousin to go "find something to do" while they talked, so we watched Hamtaro on the tiny TV in the spare bedroom.
We also watched the Pokemon anime, but I still watch that from time to time. The old series in Kanto, I mean. I also remember watching the Kirby anime and SonicX on 4kids, but Hamtaro was my first. I watched Hamtaro so much on that old TV that when I got a hamster of my own, I ended up naming her Pashmina. Man, I should watch some of the old episodes. I kind of miss it now.
