TOPIC | Breeding sites with genetics?

Does anyone here remember Order of the Griffin? It was a pet site where you get to breed griffins, which unfortunately had been abandoned and eventually shut down :( I loved that site and I used to spend so much time on it, figuring out the mechanics and trying to get my dream griffin. Now that its gone, I was wondering if there's a similar site out there? I've tried so many other sites, like lioden, beastkeeper, lucky lupine, etc., but either it's bogged down by unnecessary stuff like keeping the pets alive or premium bonus or there isn't any genetics involved...

Furry Paws is a more realistic one, where you breed purebred dogs. They have a really realistic genetics simulator that's modeled after real-life genetics, as well as hundreds of dog breeds. You can get some really pretty dogs too! And you don't have to keep them alive, but after 100 days, you can't breed them anymore. There is a membership available, but it's not necessary to play, and I've done just fine without it.

Some of my favorite dogs;

Glass, Molar, Peppermint, Cat, Paintër

Only thing that comes to mind is Wajas, but it's been 10 years since I last played that and I have no idea what the community is like now, or if it's still active.
All I remember is that they had quite a few breeds, a LOT of genes to breed for, and a massive amount of items and apparal.

@Astomnus Oh furrypaws! I had an account once. I got annoyed with the different colour items and the training things because I have no idea what I was doing so I just randomly picked something. Maybe its time to go back and give it another go :)

Your dogs are really pretty! And! they can have wings???? :O That's def tempting me to go back. (Also Cat cracks me up).

@Endee Thanks for the suggestion! The problem I have with sites like Wajas, Khimeros, etc, was that their genes... aren't really genes? When I thinking of breeding and genes, I think of Mendelian inheritance and thats not it. Another problem I had with it was the percentage of the markings are (as far as I know) limited by the upper % of the parents, so the markings get more diluted with each generation eventually all the offsprings are "mud" (I think was the term for them) and the market were dominated by players who could cashed for customs with 100% markings. At least that was my experience when trying Khimeros a long time ago.

Oh, no, they can't have wings, but you can add your own images to their profile and I was incredibly bored so I started redrawing them as cryptids.

But if you want one that does have wings and mythical creatures, Mweor is another one made by the same company? They don't have a super realistic genetics system, and its more like FR's, but it's pretty cool. It's pretty easy to get the hang of it as well, and they have a dungeon exploring system as well, which is really nice.

BeastKeeper is a site that uses simplified Mendelian genetics as the core of its breeding mechanics. It focuses less on breeding pets for colors (though desirable deviant color/pattern pets do exist) and more on breeding desirable abilities, like fire breath in the Dragon species.

Hey, friendly reminder to drink water, stretch, and take a short break if you can. Stay healthy! Also, don't forget about any chores or tasks you might be putting off.
@silverwings47 Xanje and Ovipets, But on ovipets you have to keep pets alive though, but Ovi is MAINLY focused of genetics, and mutations, and over 20 main species i think so far!

I second PureFelinity and BeastKeeper, the first required an upgraded account to actually see images of your pets though, last time I played (like 10 years ago?).

BeastKeeper is probably your best bet, though it's not as complex as OotG (which I really liked, btw, expecially that "ugliest griffin" thread!), it has patterns and colors combining to make multiple phenotypes

Ovipets is kind of like wajas, but with diploid inheritance. no real interaction between multiple genes.

Furry paws is alright but the thing i've realized about it is after a while, it's not really fun to play anymore. You have to care for every single aspect of each of your dogs (feed, water, clean their kennel, brush, train, and enter into competitions). It's manageable with a few dogs at the start, but it becomes incredibly time consuming the more dogs you get. The creators refuse to make it more simple as the game is supposed to be 'realistic':
"Please keep in mind that Kah did not create this game to be a "One Click" game. If you can't care for all of your dogs, lock them."
It's hard for new players to get into the game because as people have mentioned, there's a lot of colors and stats and genetic logistics etc etc to remember. It's also hard to get your dogs sold or performing well enough for your kennel to be recognized. It feels to me like people with more achievements and badges and the old players who were Furry Paws beta testers are more highly valued, and it's incredibly hard to be recognized in the community unless you have some sort of 'best'. The best performing dog, the best competition prizes, the most badges... Anyway it's been slowly losing my interest and I felt like I needed to rant about it XD I much more prefer Flight Rising. The community is incredibly connected and welcoming, and it's not a struggle as a new player to get started. It's much more enjoyable in my personal opinion.
