so recently, i was having a very hard time in my life and i came back to one of the only things i had left for sure; my family. it's sometimes scary being with family, since a lot of the time either university distance/arguments drives people apart. my father, who i wasn't on perfect terms with, was there for me & supported me through everything and game me much needed reassurance and love. it's kinda heartwarming that i'm fortunate enough to have folks to fall back on when adult life becomes way too much for me (i'm totally new to it all!) and i always want to thank my dad for always being there for me and supporting me.
and it had me thinking...
a lot of the time people (especially myself) forget to show appreciation for the people who matter the most in life, so i wanted to start this thread as a way for everyone to show thanks to special people in their life (or even pets or objects) that help them feel better, either today or in the future!
so, FR, did anybody do anything special for you today/in the past?

this is a sweet thread!
my friend and i recently spent a lot of time together this weekend and she checks up on me a lot and i appreciate her so much. she's so sweet and really funny all the time. i can be a little needy sometimes, yet she's always there to give me advice and support. recently i've been stressing about an audition piece, worrying if i was even good enough to audition in the first place and she was right there to assure me that i'd be okay. she's a gift and i dont deserve her

Today I was really sad that my favorite character is probably going to die in like a bit and I was looking bummed out and this lil kid from this after school activity I do asked me and I explained and he was so sweet he was like "it's ok they're a fiction person so you don't have to get worried yeah maybe it was a fake and they're ok." and I don't really feel like that's something I'd do but that was so cute and it brightened up my day.
tbh i would like to show my appreciation for literally everyone who puts up with me daily bc honestly i can't even put up with myself lol
also, extra appreciation for my best friend who is like my only friend who hasn't left me :')) i love her a lot

Hexacoatl for letting me borrow Blizzardlock for coli grinding, which is coming in handy a lot of the times to train fodder, until my team can hold its own. Its very nice, and i appreciate it. Even have a part in my clan bio dedicated to the generosity

Auraelia for writing my dragon bios (because i have ZERO time to sit down and do it myself). Of course, i don't expect it right away, it takes time, but they are AWESOME. I would highly recommend asking to have one written, although i do pay a small fee every time ;) totally worth it, though. So much thought goes into it.

Last week, one of my favorite authors, Andy Weir, did an AMA while I was working on a paper. Unfortunately, I was too busy to ask him anything, but he left his email in the post and said that he would respond to any fanmail (but not immediately). I decided to send him an email for the heck of it. I told him about the museum I work at, as well of how much the cat he'd posed with in his picture for the AMA was adorable and I asked him to pet his cats for me.
He emailed me back the next day (I was lowkey expecting maybe getting something back in the next two weeks, so that made my day already). The email was short, but I figure he got a decent amount of emails after posting his email in the AMA. He also pet his cats for me, so that was really awesome. And on top of that, he said he liked my museum, which made my coworkers really happy as well as me :D
Something else cute, but someone mentioned in the "weirdest dragon name above you" thread that they thought the oddest dragon name of mine is
Friendship. I have no clue if they meant it in a good way or not, but she's named after Friendship 7, so I looked it up to see why John Glenn named her that, anyway. Turns out, he'd let his kids pick out the name. And that's the story of how John Glenn made my day over a year after he died.
