I realized a lot of people might not be aware that
Phoenix Rising, a Pokemon fan game over nine years in development, is scheduled to have it's very first release coming out tomorrow!
I'll let the forum post speak for itself, but TL;DR it's going to feature new RPG elements to twist the standard Pokemon formula, new fan-made formes and mega evolutions for pokemon, quests, character customization, choices and consequences, and probably a lot of other new things we're going to find out once the demo is finally released.
I'm personally a big fan of Pokemon, have played a lot of official and fan games over the years, and have been following the development of Phoenix Rising for the last three years. So far it has been looking absolutely
phenomenal. I can't wait to get my hands on the demo. 100% gonna start with Growlithe :D

Oh wow I've never heard of this before, it looks stunning! tbh i honestly think it's more ambitious and creative than any recent official pokemon game? As well as having a more mature storyline which I don't think we've seen since gen 5 :0 And multiple endings?? Whoaaaaaa!!
Unfortunately I have a mac, so no playing it atm for me, rip But thanks for letting me know it exists at least!

I am so excited for this; my partner is already freaking out about pokemon stuff because he's got the time now to play, so I feel like neither of us will be able to do anything except play pokemon all summer.
The game looks really beautiful as well, like, actually stunning.

I enjoy the work these fans make but I really wish they'd make Pokemon rip-offs rather than using the franchise name and creatures, at least that way a nine year project has the chance of seeing the light of day for at least 24 hours.
Really talented people put some much work into these games, I'd like to see them actually be able to sell them and make money off of them, rather than get repeatedly slapped for making a game in someone else's universe. Particularly Nintendo's because they are none to kind toward fan creations.
Pokemon games don't exist outside of Nintendo systems, the market is there for an original, competitive, third party franchise. Dauntless exists because Capcom hadn't released a Monster Hunter game on a system that didn't belong to Nintendo since the PS2 (until recently).

:( I really hope this one doesnt get shut down like some of the other really good pokemon fan games... some were in the making for over 5 years and nintendo still struck them down. I'll try and get it as soon as I can, just incase they do end up prohibiting the distribution of the game.

Nothing malicious is intended and we completely respect that the Copyrights and IP that Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, and Game Freak hold over their work. However we have zero interest in stepping on any toes and if a compromise can be made we will do our best to do so. We are doing our best to keep to the Fair Use policy, and are doing our best to use as little assets from the official Pokémon games and franchise as possible.
We also have a strategy to avoid a "C&D" which includes:
Not taking donations
Removing the trademark "Pokémon" from our branding and name
Removing online functions from the game
Being less present on social media where possible
Not having a website which can be contrived as seeking hidden revenue
As per our research, we have taken into account what issues with previous taken down games have been and are attempting to respond to that as best we can.

here. Now Nintendo can obviously still shut this game down if they want to, but considering the likes of Reborn, Zeta & Omicron and Insurgence have survived all the way to final releases with similar tactics I am quite hopeful for this game's future :)
