TOPIC | The Worst Pokemon
1 2 3 4 5
Okay so I got my wisdom teeth out a few days ago, and while I'm waiting to stop feeling terrible, I had an idea.

So I am currently playing through Sun with a team of 6 Zubats. Only 6 Zubats, they cannot evolve or anything, to prove a point because I'm petty. While I was doing this, I was thinking; what's the most useless pokemon?

Zubat actually does get quite a bit of support, and can at least evolve into some useful stuff, and I'm finding out lots of fun ways to use these guys in my playthrough (the secret is daily snuggles). And of course you have the pokemon that are LITERALLY useless, like Magicarp and Unown (unown's not even that bad tbh)

But I want to put together an underdog team. A team you look at and think "oh, they couldn't POSSIBLY do anything to hurt me!" and then they actually wreck shop. I'm putting a Sewaddle at the head of this team because it can actually be kinda scary, I need ideas for the others. What are some pokemon that you could never possibly see as a threat, but actually could be a threat?

The worst pokemon.

Anyway thanks for reading and have a great day :)

Stand Still. Stay Silent.
Metapod and Kakuna.

Although lets be honest if you really want the underdog team its a group of 6 magicarp

That said most of the pokemon games can be won by nearly any combo. Mostly because the AI in it doesn't do any real thinking in battles (it just picks the attack or ability to use mostly at random unless its for a prescripted battle). While back there was a spate of "fish plays pokemon" where a fish swimming in a tank randomly sent instructions (depending on where it swam too) for controlling the character - it got surprisingly far into the game!

Spinda learns teeter dance at level 32, which is pretty nice. Except it's still a spinda.

Pyukumuku might be a fun challenge since it has no offensive moves, but it does learn toxic and recover eventually so as long as nobody taunts it, it should be an interesting play.

Beldum holding an everstone if you REALLY want to hurt yourself.

Good luck and let us know what team you roll with and what movesets they end up having! I'm curious.

Sunkern. Statistically, it's pretty useless, but I have fond memories of being a dumb kid and using one against the E4 in HeartGold and winning. Might be a good option.

@Tyrantrum
I've never used any pokemon in the beldum line before, so I had to look up what it was about.
I am now determined to win with this literal deadweight.
Thank you, you've ruined everything :)

Tbqh it might be possible since it learns Iron Head and Zen Headbutt from move tutor as of Ultra SuMo...but I see some leftovers in my future.

As for Spinda, I'm liking the look of that Hypnosis/Dream Eater combo. Teeter Dance is always fun, and Thrash might be worth looking at in conjunction with Own Tempo. Spinda actually sounds pretty fun, I'll give it a try :D

Pyukumuku is an interesting challenge, but I like the sound of Soak and Toxic, especially with Steel being a really popular type in competitive.

@Overread
Metapod and Kakuna would be interesting, but potentially plausible with Poison Sting and Bug Bite. Kakuna has more potential in that regard, but only slightly. They're fairly weak moves. But it's got something I can work with, so I'll look into it!

Yeah, the AI can be a little...dumb. But I like that it's not about choosing the best pokemon, it's about raising them right. Kinda why I'm doing the Zubat challenge :)

Spinda. Enough said.

Well, going by base stat total, (solo form) wishiwashi has the lowest at a whopping 175. Although it doesn't stay weak because of its schooling ability, so wishiwashi probably doesn't work for your purposes. Unless you deliberately kept its HP at a quarter all the time.

Second worst (again, if we're going by base stat total) is sunken. Only 5 points more than wishiwashi. Third is azurill (190), fourth is kricketot (194), and then you have caterpie, weedle and wurmple (195).

Magikarp's base stat total is 200, so all these Pokémon are (technically) weaker than magikarp.

Regigigas. Its dumb ability, Slow Start, halves its attack and speed for five turns, meaning its pretty much a sitting duck until the counter ends, since its too weak to make a decent offense and too slow to use any defense moves without your opponent completely demolishing it. Yeah...in my experience it was always KOed before the ability wore off...

Also, Arceus could never take a hit without being KOed in one go, maybe halved if it had a type advantage. Like with Regigigas, Arceus was often downed before it even had a chance. Also i don't know if i just had a bad moveset on it, but it just never seemed to do much damage outside of Judgement.
(Honestly, Silvally is sooo much better since it pretty much has the same ability but the stats to actually make progress)
