I run a water-based deck on Duel Links, though I also rather enjoy Lightsworn. Silent Abyss is my favorite monster.

I really like any times the characters just act like regular high-schoolers, instead of worrying about saving the world and such. When they goof around, make fun of each other, 'Joey I don't think you should cook the candy bars', you know, the like. It makes them seem less like destiny-driven card playing machines and more like people.

As for the abridgement.... not really, though I do suppose Sexyback playing every time Duke is onscreen is quite hilarious. Honestly, of all the characters to like better in the Abridged version than the sub or dub, I think Duke is so much better in the abridged version.

I haven't played in a very, very long time (though I am leaning toward getting one of the video games with the card game mechanics), not since just after GX started, so I'm having a little trouble recalling what my deck strategy was other than "try to get (one of a small number of monsters I built the decks around) onto the field ASAP". Granted, there weren't all these extra mechanics that have appeared since then, so that was a pretty valid strategy at the time.

2: Do you have a favorite moment on the show?

The entirety of the anniversary crossover movie. It was just cool to finally see characters from different series and time periods interacting.


3: Do you have a favorite joke from the abridgment?

Before she passed away, my best friend and I basically lived on randomly quoting the series. We could be in the store two aisles apart and just start shouting "Do you want this baby?" or "CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES!" or just prefacing a normal comment with "Attention Duelists!". If she was ever caught off guard, she would also use the quote "They are playing cards!" as if that were the answer.

We were just really weird like that.

Hello yes did someone say Yugioh? I just finished re-watching the entire Capsule Monsters arc for the fun of it, a lot of people don't like it, but it's one of my favorite parts of the show!

I'm gonna bookmark this thread, idk, I might come back to it later- ya'll seem like pretty cool people

1. I never had much of a deck IRL, 'cause TCGs cost too much money for my liking. XD But I played the stuffing out of the DS games, mostly Nightmare Troubadour - where I had a depletion deck. (which is the strategy of... basically making the opponent run out of cards. It's about as exciting as it sounds, which is probably why that type of deck was never featured in the anime. XD)


2. Favourite moment of the show? All of the QUALITY moments in the card game. Like, forgetting how to add, drawing the wrong monster in the scene, using the cards the wrong way, or having characters suddenly take their turn in the middle of someone else's turn *coughKaibacough*
As well as the obvious any narmful editing by 4Kids. *points menacingly* "You must be weak from your Shadow Game!"

aaand, uh, I don't like the abridgement thing. At all. Sorry. :'D

currently i have a ghostrick deck, zombie deck, redeyes deck, and almost finished dark magician deck. i focus on what is going to win me the game when i make decks. for ghostricks, its the extradeck monsters.

favorite show moment was in season 0 when ryou took control of his body and yami bakura stabbed his hand. NO ONE in the series was ever able to do that.

fav abridged moment is dumb and old "in another few hours the sun will rise"

Shame you don't live where I live. I used to get my cards virtually free by getting store credit for selling valuable Magic: The Gathering cards (I have crazy luck getting packs with decent cards), and then would get friends (and occasionally random people) set up with custom decks of whatever game they were interested in just so we could sit and play. Unlike some people who hung out at the game shop, I actually tried to build decks for other people that would win instead of telling them to go for bad cards just so I could win. Where is the fun if there isn't a challenge?

Omg dude, if you teamed up with a hero deck or something else that stops graveyard use, you could have yourself what essentially would be an anti-lightsworn machine
