Hey there!
I was wondering recently if people would be interested in a modded minecraft server?
I've got a preemptive list of mods that I'll list in the next post down that people can make suggestions to, as well as a pinglist of those interested.
I'd also like to gather a general idea of how many people can contribute to server costs via a patreon.
The best plan for modded mc servers on
MCProHosting is the Diamond plan that gives our server 4GB of RAM for $40 a month.
As a uni student, paying the whole $40 a month by myself is a bit much! Even if I could get $20 through a patreon for this, it would be a massive help.
I'd also need suggestions and help with things like plugins, multiple worlds ect, so if anyone has experience in that, that would be greatly appreciated!!

Heya! FWIW I used to run a modded server for FR, we did it through
BisectHosting on a ~$9/mo budget plan, which got us a bit over 3gb RAM/month. Did Project Ozone and then Blightfall, only hit lag when someone did something outlandish (detonating a nuke in the Nether).

Being ABSOLUTELY a modpack. Keep in mind that if you do a custom modpack, you'll have to either come up with a way to distribute it, or else have your players download the mods themselves separately. Plus, most popular modpacks are at least a bit optimized, and take care of the weird version mismatch bugs.
The two I mentioned were picked largely by my players :) Blightfall is more adventure, exploration, and magic, while Project Ozone 2 is more tech and automation (it's a skyblock). I'd recommend not doing PO2 unless you know you can trust your players, since their quest reward items are pretty easy to grief with, even accidentally.
Note that both of those are for a prior version of Minecraft (1.7.10 I think?). Not really sure what the landscape looks like these days, but I know Sevtech is super popular, and also pretty multiplayer-safe!

Rha of course thank you! adding ya now~

Oranitha oh yeah I've done custom modpacks with friends before just zip the mods up in a folder and pop it on google drive .o.
but yeah I think a modpack would be good, have lots of different things for people to mess around with.
I had a look at them, they're pretty cool! I'm currently looking at
Compitum Magia and
this Free-For-All pack... but idk if they're a bit too like hardcore? I want a nice mix of like building and decor and RPG type things so that builders can do their thing, and those that like exploring and fighting can do their thing ya get me? cx
