TOPIC | Venus flytrap
Recently, I bought a venus flytrap. What should I feed it? Because I do not know where to buy live insects, so I catch my own to feed it. I have been feeding it drain flies from my bathroom and ants, but not too sure if it works. Any advice? Thank you!

Depending on where you are, a pet supply store (IE PetCo, PetsMart, etc) will typically carry live crickets. Small ones would work, depending on how big the traps themselves are. You can also order them off of Amazon - look for either Vita Crickets or Fluckers.

i've done a little bit of research aka looking up stuff on the internet and you can feed them mealworms. however if your flytrap is a seedling then you should cut the mealworms depending on how small the plant is uwu

you can also feed it bloodworms. if you're planning to feed it bloodworms then you should hydrate the bloodworms with a few droplets of water, cut the worms to about 1/3 the size of the trap, and feed it.

another suggestion is crickets like what ACWN said previously.

you can find these three at most pet shops. good luck taking care of your trap :>

One thing NOT to do though is ever touch the inside of the 'mouth' ^-^

It can get confused and digest itself which is!! not good!!!

Seconding the being careful of not accidently triggering it, venus flytraps usually have the energy for shutting maybe 5 times before the mouth dies.

I feed mine (His name is Fester) flys i manage to catch, but im sure that big pet stores such as Petco or Petsmart sell live bugs for reptiles that you can buy.

Also, remember to not use fertilized soil, use distilled water, and always keep their terrarium humid and the soil damp but not over saturated.
