Harry shouldn't have ended up with Ginny, he belonged with Luna.

I came here to obsessively collect unbred G1s and drink milk, and I'm all outta milk.
The movies are terrible and do no justice to a lot of characters.

For example - I know some people that never read the books that don't like Harry all that much as they think he's rather arrogant and thinks that everything is all about him.

I really dislike the whole deathly hallows plot, I felt it came far too out of left field.

I also found the whole 'Dumbles is gay and was Grindlewald's lover' thing quite unnecessary and rather like being slapped by a dead fish. Which could have been what she was going for maybe...?

The films were also all awful and the wooden face plonker who played Harry looked nothing like him.
omg yes... and i didn't like how ron ended up with hermione. i don't know, when finishing the books and remember being like 'wat'. never got into either harry x ginny or hermione x ron :/ either boys with luna would have been nice. i genuinely thought harry and luna was endgame when i was younger LOL. -dumbledore being gay makes...no difference. she didn't put it in the books nor showed it in the movies so saying he was gay after it was all done and over with was annoying. same with saying hermione 'could' have been black. i'm sure she did it for woke points. -the books...were better than the movies (a lot of people think this). they excluded a lot with characterizations, especially for harry. and dobby/house elves could have been handled better. i know in the books the idea of the sorting houses was kind of seen as a bad idea by some but i was fine that not being in the movies. -snape also didn't deserve lily, lol. he was also never justified in the way he treated people, especially kids. i don't care what you were through; don't be a huge anus. he is overrated and overpraised. a great character, don't get me wrong. i like him but i could even see he wasn't a good man. the james x lily vs james x snape arguments were kind of...useless. -hermione should have been in ravenclaw and neville in hufflepuff, i think this would have been another interesting thing in the books...hermione could have still been best friends with harry and ron, and neville still could have been as helpful as he was. but them being in different house would have given it a bit more...urgency? i guess. it would have explored more of the other houses. hufflepuff's aesthetics are amazing and it was a shame they didn't pay much attention to it. -i don't like ginny. she's actually more interesting in fanfics than in the books or movies. -and uuuuhhh....ron was a good wizard and i wish they showed it in the movies more, he was very technical and actually very strategic at times. i'm kind of sad most people think he was slow and the lesser wizard than his friends. he just lacked self confidence which can play into how well you do under pressure (and magic applies to this as well I'm sure). sorry this was long and i haven't read the books in awhile, but those are some opinions i always had. edit: also, ron wasn't really a good friend, oops. he got better though but still. he used to peeve me off as a kid

another apparently unpopular opinion:

i feel like dumbledore being gay and in love with grindlewald was slightly significant, and will be more so in the upcoming movies. I feel like if he wasn't in love, he wouldn't have been on grindlewald's side for so long. Grindlewald was likely aware of dumbledore's love for him and used it to manipulate him.
His love blinded him to how evil grindlewald was turning out, and if it hadn't been in love, he might have stopped grindlewald long before his reign of terror happened.

Also I do feel like Dumbledore being gay was slightly implied? Dumbledore never had a wife or kids, or any kind of straight romance ever, and it's emphasized a lot how close he was to Grindlewald. Maybe JK didn't directly say it at first because gay characters in kids books weren't as accepted when she was writing the first arc, and she was waiting for a more accepting time to be obvious about it?

Or she could have just invented it for woke points. Idek ¯\_(?)_/¯

Snape does not deserve the love and pity that he gets.

He's a terrible teacher, a massive bully, and never deserved Lily.

Just look at his treatment towards Neville. Snape loathes him because Neville should have been the "Chosen One" and then Lily would have lived. His treatment of Neville is completely uncalled for, and is far from professional.

Neville is terrified of Snape. To the point where his boggart took on Snape's form. Take in mind that it could have easily have turned into Bellatrix who tortured his parents. But no. It was his own teacher. Yikes! No child should ever be afraid of a teacher like that.

Even his treatment towards Hermione, flat out making remarks about her appearance and such in front of the entire class many times... That's messed up.

He outed Lupin as a werewolf because of a childhood grudge. Lupin, who was a homeless and poor man, was then sent out of the castle with nothing more than the torn clothes on his back.

Snape was perfectly content to work for Voldemort until that moment when Lily would be killed. He had no sympathy or regret for the work he did with Voldemort. Hundreds of people were tortured and killed, and he still loyally followed Voldemort until it was Lily's turn to die.

Oh, which would mean that he was totally okay for a newborn baby to die - just not Lily.

The favouritism towards his House as well... He would let his students get away with foul behaviour that any other teacher would have rightfully condemned.

And his treatment towards Harry during those lessons of "close your mind" was honestly as sickening as some of the punishments Umbridge gave him.

And honestly, his one "redeeming" quality (his love for Lily) fares more towards creepy obsession than love.

For "I Know That Reference", all dragons (minus Level 25s & Fodders) are fandergs within my lair :)
I think that fans of the movies and fans of the books are two completely different fan bases.

I take serious issue with Dumbledore being announced as gay after the books were all over. Don't get me wrong, I don't actually care what his sexuality is...what rubs me the wrong way is that it felt like it was tacked on for brownie points or something. Like I'm all for having representation in media, but I hate it when it's shoved in so insincerely like this. To me it feels like it was done to tick off the representation checklist rather than as a natural extension of his character, if that makes sense at all.

Also, the treatment towards Slytherin house in the series is largely unjustified. A couple of really bad people coming from that house shouldn't therefore label the entire house as full of nasty horrible people. I mean honestly, no wonder so many of them are jerks considering even the teachers display levels of disdain towards them solely based on house.
