Change my mind.

I'm talking about the show, not the games. Never played the Digimon games (though I want too).
I just think that Digimon look cooler.
And the show is actually different every season.

Speaking of never aging
In the second series, the original characters make a comeback and they are actually now in college / Seniors in high school. Yeah. They aged. They also give a REASON for characters not aging in the Digiverse (time is sped up there a ton, even if it doesn't feel like it.)

As a long time Pokemon fan, the show has one particular, serious issue, and his name is Ash.

At least Digimon isn't afraid to take narrative risks and generally act like they care about a story.

Anyway, yeah Pokemon anime needs to change up the formula. Even if Pikachu must always be in the spotlight, it doesn't always need to be Ash and Ash's Pikachu.

If you're interested in Digimon video games definitely check out some of the more recent games, particularly Cyber Sleuth and it's sequel, those are fantastic.

wooooooo digimon!!! i love both digimon and pokemon equally but yeah i definitely do tend to enjoy the digimon anime more than the pokemon one (i dont dislike the pkmn anime at all though!). i enjoy the games about the same, i love the grinding in digimon games its sooo satisfying.

though my favorite of the three big 'kids monster animes' is- well, take wild guess, I do enjoy Digimon much more than Pokemon when it comes to the anime. Pokemon just... isn't deep, at least in its anime. The deepest season has probably been SM? And even then I haven't seen most of it, so I wouldn't know all about it. I kinda quickly fell out of love with Pokemon's anime and just lost interest. And I did similarly with Digimon Adventure, it's unfortunate to say, but the difference between Digimon and Pokemon to me is that one EXPONENTIALLY improves over the other. Digimon Tamers? Frontier? Even Fusion? Yes please. But the Pokemon anime? It improves in art only, really.


Also, the characters in Digimon actually grow as people. It's a lot more overt than, say, the other monster anime I was talking about (yugioh), but it's THERE, and I appreciate that. Ash? Never ages, always an idiot, and even in situations where he SHOULD lose some of his innocence he seems to bounce back to being his normal oblivious self.

I suppose it's a sort of episodic v linear format that makes it for me though? I don't know why, but I've always enjoyed shows that at least SOMEWHAT progress the story in each of their episodes more than monsters of the week. Maybe that's why I liked Code Lyoko so much lol. It managed to pull off both.

Pokemon has better designs in my opinion. They're more different from one another than digimon are. Pikachu and yveltal are about as dissimilar as possible in structure and color. Digimon all have claws and massive eyes. Plus they can like 'mega-evolve' in angels??? Like a literal dinosaur turns into a humanoid angel? Why???

Also the names. Digimon all end in -mon and that is minorly annoying at least to me lol

TBH I'd love for someone to argue the other way in terms of creature designs and stuff, I am interested in knowing the appeal of digimon!

(I'm basing this off designs, not the plot of the anime or the human characters! I'm into pokemon for the games, trading cards, and the pokemon themselves lol)
