TOPIC | Hmm. To read or to not to read.

My friend said I should get into Wings Of Fire and I'm tempted to. I've heard it's good but I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure it has quite a few books and I'm scared I'll read the first few then get bored of it, but then feel obligated to finish the series because the first books were so good and I end up not having a good time reading it. (it's happened before)

So, what do you think of Wings Of Fire? Should I get into it? My friend said she could let me borrow the first couple of books from her to read. I have the opportunity to read them.

The question is: Should I take it?

i've read the first four, and ive been searching for the rest for ages and still havent found them.

but they're pretty fast paced and fun to read, so yeah

honestly though, ive kinda given up, but maybe that's just because i've got so many other books to read

Definitely read them. Wings of Fire is one of my favourite books, and there’s a ton to do if you get into the fandom. There are some great parts to the community as well as the books themselves.

Here’s my take on them (from an older reader’s POV):
Pros:
~Fast paced! The ball gets rolling very quickly here. Lots of action as well.
~Good vs. Evil. The lines are blurred very quickly for some characters, which I absolutely love. A dragon may be fighting for a good purpose, but is doing terrible things to accomplish it. You have Kestrel, Pearl, Morrowseer, Darkstalker, etc. that are just hard to place into “good” or “bad,” which is very impressive for middle grade book.
~Worldbuilding. Think Warrior Cats but edgier and on steroids. It’s a crazy, fun world, even if Sutherland doesn’t really flesh it out (and she doesn’t).
Cons:
~Good vs. Evil. Remember how I said how well Sutherland does with her characters? Well, then you have those irredeemably, cartoonishly bad characters that feel entirely out of place in a complex world. I’m looking at you, Scarlet. They are one-sided (like Scarlet) and poorly motivated (like Blister, Burn, and Blaze), and it makes you want to bang your head on the table.
~Writing. It’s pretty plain, but given that it is a middle-grade book, what else can you expect?
~Cliches. They’re EVERYWHERE! Sometimes Sutherland does an interesting, new take on a cliche.
~Worldbuilding. Most characters have grown up and/or are surrounded in unusual circumstances and because of this we only get glimpses into the everyday life of a common dragon.
Extra:
~Violence. There’s lots of it. I like it, you may not. But hey, it’s dragons.
~Humor. More ‘kiddish’ humor. Didn’t stop me from laughing once or twice when reading the series.
~Love interests. It’s kinda annoying that nearly every main character/narrator that isn’t Sunny has a love interest.
~LGBT. There are LGBT characters in WoF, but as far as I know they are all minor characters.

Take the advice as you will, and with a grain of salt!

I read the entire first arc, I liked it pretty well, even encouraged me to make some fanart haha, I'd give it a chance and try it out if I were you. ^^" I should get back into the series, I've not been reading a lot lately though.

Loved the first arc, the second is decent, and I hate the third. I do feel obligated to finish them, though.
