I tell you what, nothing’s freaky than the earth shaking right under your feet. There was a 4.6 sixty miles north of me this morning. I don’t live in an area that gets earthquakes. Like, ever.
Freaky, freaky. Just thought you guys should know. That concludes my random broadcast.

Yikes, I'm glad you seem to be ok!
I remember my first earthquake, I was living nearish to Washington DC at the time and we NEVER get earthquakes over there. I had no clue what was happening as I never experienced a quake before, I actually thought that someone had bombed the city or something! When dishes started to fall out of cabinets I decided to grab my sister and run outside, luckily our house was ok and nothing too sentimental was damaged.
I lived pretty close to the epicenter of that one, only one county over. I can't remember the magnitude, but I remember it was bad enough that they had to shut down the Washington Monument for a year for repairs. Earthquakes are seriously no joke! I have no idea how people in place like Cali or Japan deal with them on the reg.

Ern I’m just rattled, but other than nerves, everything’s fine.
Same here. We were sitting in the living room and we all just stared at each other like what the heck is going on? I googled it and it popped right up.
If you’ve ever seen the Freaky Friday with Lindsey Lohan, I feel like the Grandpa on it always yelling about earthquakes. I heard a truck go by this afternoon and thought it was an aftershock, then my phone ringing about scared the bajeezus out of me. >.<

Thank you. There’s just something uncanny about the ground shaking. I’ve always loved seismology and volcanology and geology, so I know about earthquakes. I just never expected one that big (which, a 4.3 doesn’t sound very big, but it was definitely noticeable) to strike where I live.

I was doing a homestay in Hokkaido when a 5.7 earthquake hit. Where I'm from, the last noticeable earthquake was when I was only a few years old, so when it happened I didn't quite understand what was going on until my host mom knocked on the door to ask if I was okay. Luckily we were pretty far away, so everything just mostly shook a lot, but I had a friend who was staying only about 10 miles from the epicenter so he had a pretty big shock that night, haha. It's definitely a little freaky when everything starts rattling when you're not expecting it. It's so normal for my friends though, they hardly even blinked when it happened.

Earthquakes are very scary. I live in a place where we get small earthquakes every couple of months, and it never gets less upsetting. You just don't know when they will hit and if they will actually be bigger. :/ I'm glad you're okay. :)

Happiness can be found,
even in the darkest of times,
if one only remembers to turn on the light.
