It's a nectar-eating fly that mimics wasps, despite being entirely harmless. Maybe that's something you can work into your dragon version of it, making it very ferocious-looking, but ultimately unable to harm anything.

I've always considered trying a serow/wolf hybrid, myself, though I'm not sure how well that would mesh with a dragon.
