TOPIC | What Do You Do When Reading A Book....
1 2
How do you imagine what you are reading? By this I mean, do you see the world through -- literally -- The POV's eyes, or from a third-person perspective(as if you were a mere fly on the walls, watching the story to unfold)? Also, how VIVID do you generally visualize?

A pleasure that will take my mind off the reality of life."

I envision some of them like anime movies. The Thief Lord is a Studio Gibli flick in my head, while Caraval appears more like Black Butler. It helps especially when a book has been turned into a GOOD movie (the only example I can think of being Howl’s Moving Castle).

also I’m a theater kid so I read books that musicals were based off of. I tried reading War and Peace while in the middle of my Great Comet phase, but that didn’t work out as well as I expected...

I tend to view things from a third person, fly on the wall, perspective. I also tend to imagine things pretty vividly. Although if a book doesn't have a video adaptation before I read it- then one comes out, it tends to be really different from what I imagined. Like the golden compass and twilight, to give some examples. XD

i kinda imagine myself like a ghost in the setting and watching silently all that happens

For "I Know That Reference", all dragons (minus Level 25s & Fodders) are fandergs within my lair :)
Never thought about that before. But it's pretty damn chinematic for me. Mostly third person, with all the fancy camera stuff that may happen in movies.
For stuff written in third person, it's the same, but POVs from the main character are much, much more common.

Also, regardless of how human characters are described, they often get a somewhat distinctive look to them in my mind. Also, a unique voice. This is in part due to my face-blindness. My mind just doesn't get faces. Therefore, workarounds are made.

I always imagine it either as a movie or me making an animation of it, for example:

Day of The Trifids I imagined as a movie (no not the literal movie of it, i just imagine in my head it folding out as a movie) my mind even goes as far to include the music playing in the background and the camera angle.

However, I imagined Warrior cats as it being animated, perhaps its the ammount of MAPs Ive seen? Who knows.
It's always a third-person animation, like Firestar running through the grass with a fanmade design and clearly drawn on computer. I simply cannot see the series physically/in real life.

I always subconsciously choose one person, not always the main character, sometimes it’s a character we meet later in the book. I see everything from their perspective. And what with all my empathy I feel everything they feel.

Once I've got my groove, I start seeing it play out in my head like a movie or TV show. I almost stop noticing the words on the page and just see the pictures my mind makes of them almost as clearly as if I were watching it on TV.

The downside of this is it can consume my focus to the point somebody will have to physically touch or shake me or yell nearby to get my attention. I got left behind on the school bus during field trips multiple times because I was so into what I was reading that I didn't notice everybody else had left.

Depending on what I'm reading I switch between third and first person. If it's something that doesn't have a visual representation (i.e. fan art, movie ec) then it's a little more difficult for me to imagine up. It also sorta plays like a movie for me in a way? It's hard to describe but its probably why I enjoy reading so much it literally pulls me in as if im in thr dtory, which results in me being yelled at by friends and family because apparently it's possible to read and listen to other people's conversations. It's not.

I think third person, and decently vivid except for faces & people.
I can read physical descriptions 'till the cows come home but my brain is much more willing to provide settings and critters than anything person-like.
