The original Blue. Was actually my second video game, after Super Mario 2. I think my first starter was a squirtle.
I still have it around. If my savegame still exists, it's currently the one I went glitch hunting on and even managed to catch an 'X. Which sucks in battle, by the way.

The first one I played was my brother's copy of Blue, but the first I owned was when he got me both Yellow and Silver shortly after Gold/Silver came out.
I lost my original cartridges ages ago, but I was beyond thrilled when they were released as Virtual Console games. Even though I have the newer Gens, being able to revisit the first few I ever played through is a blast.

however, i do have faint memories of my brothers playing colosseum and gale of darkness, so i was expecting something like that with sapphire and was somewhat disappointed

Red, which I never actually finished. My brother accidentally deleted my save twice, and I restarted it so many times. Had every starter at least once. The second one I played and the first I finished was X. Not sure why I never played any of the others between the release of red/blue and x/y, cause I was really excited when the second gen was announced and never lost interest in pokemon.
