TOPIC | Anyone know more dragon games?

I love Flight Rising, I love dragons, and I'm always on the lookout for more dragon games to fill my spare time. I especially like them in a benevolent or pet role, though I have enjoyed games like Skyrim where I hunt dragons too.

So far I've tried the Drakengard games, pokemon and digimon with a team of dragons, Lair and Drakan. Fire Emblem Fates probably counts too, with Corrin shapeshifting into a dragon during gameplay. Mythaura looks nice, but seems pretty dead in the development phase so far. Dragonvale World? Cute graphics, but seems a bit neglected in favor of the original Dragonvale, plus mobile games like those rely on premium currency a LOT oof.

From the ones I tried I recommend Drakan if anyone else is looking too, it's an old game but it had big areas (and Arokh is quite the sassy dragon haha)

EDIT: I also played Breath of Fire, a bit of Dragon's Prophet and Monster Hunter Stories.

"How To Raise A Dragon" is a super simple flash game, but I find it really soothing. It's always the first thing that comes to mind when I hear "dragon games".

Why is a mouse when it spins? The higher the fewer!
Dragon Cave is a bit boring as far as gameplay goes - it's a clicker in the likes of Pokefarm Q, you have to wait for others to click your dragons while also clicking others for mutual benefit. But, when your dragons grow up they often have wonderful sprites, as well as detailed descriptions. Some species even have special skills they can use to help you hatch more dragons! It also features some special dragon crossbreeds. Unlocking all the dragon species takes time, but due to the detailed lore I'd say it's worth it. Give it a shot!

If you're worried that your dragons won't get enough clicks, nurseries such as The Allure of Neglected Dragons or DragHatch can help. These are sites that will put your dragons on display to be clicked by viewers. You can also do your part by clicking other dragons.

Ah! I think I played Drakan. I was young and found it hard and didn't make it out of like the starter area. haha I need to give it another shot if I still have it.

I also tried Drakenguard, several Digimon games, Dragonvale, and Dragonvale World. I do Pokemon.

There's some Pokemon-esque games I really like.

The one I keep coming back to the most is Dragon Warrior Monsters 2: Tara's Adventure for the GBC. There's also Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker and Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 for the DS. Those are unfortunately the most recent installments of the Dragon Quest Monsters series we got in the West. T__T

Monster Rancher 4 for the PS2 has been called the "best Monster Rancher game." It's another one I need to revisit. You can ride some of your monsters around! But the maps you explore are extremely bare, if I remember right. This is only a small part of the game, though. Other than that, I think it's a pretty robust game.

I like Monster Rancher DS. It's definitely not for everyone and has a steep learning curve, though. Speaking of games like that, there's Digimon World Chapionship for the DS. The Digimon are literally just virtual pets and you have them battle. I like it because it reminds me so much of the original Digimon virtual pets.

In MMO's there's Istaria, where you can play as a flying dragon. It's really old and not many people play it, though. You have to reach adulthood and complete a really hard quest to become an adult dragon and fly. (I never did.)

There's Dragon's Prophet. It allows you to ride a dragon pretty much right off the bat. It's centered around catching dragons. Other than that it's a pretty standard MMORPG

@Manah Yoooo I've been looking this stuff up for a good bit too.

-Breath of Fire is a JRPG series in the traditional fashion where you are the dragon! And you can transform into an even bigger dragon! And there are all sorts of other animal characters! Protip: if you don't enjoy the more grindy type, leave 1 and 2 alone for later and start with 3. And play the retranslation of 2, the original script was horrid.

-Legend of Dragoon is another JRPG that doesn't have you playing as a dragon, but you connect with the spirits of slain dragons to transform in a kinda Sentai fashion. It also has dragon slaying, and they did put some effort in the art direction so all the dragons look different and fantastic. Thing is though, the battle system's very love or hate.

-Dragonseeds is a monster raising game where everything is a dragon! Even the things that obviously aren't dragons! This one boasts a bit more customization than something like Monster Rancher; you can't really customize looks like on FR but there's tons to do. Also global warming.

-Talisman is a boardgame. It has an expansion named The Dragon, that stars... you guessed it, a whole bunch of dragons. Every single kind of dragon you can think of, even Dragon Toads. The Highlands expansion also has plenty of dragons. If you don't want to sell your kidney for everything you want, grab the digital version where you only need to sell some tears.

-Tales of Maj'Eyal is a 99% free game (on their website, it's donationware) that has a class that's all about using Dragons' abilities. I mean it, the game has a dragon of almost every single element and they can be some of the most powerful in the game. And you can use every single thing they can including breathe fire/lightning/sand/ice/acid/poison. You need to unlock the class though.

-Hoard is a little fun game where you are a dragon that does things like capture princesses, burn everything, and hoard gold. It's more of a multiplayer competition, and a short one at that, but it's cheap and worth it on sale as a fun diversion.

-Likewise, Dragon Spirit and Dragon Saber are actually older arcade shoot 'em ups where you are the dragon. It's short and fun, typical arcade Namco fare.

-Though not about dragons exactly, I did very much like Chrono Cross's dragon gods in the looks and feels department. One of the very many playable characters is also a baby dragon, it doesn't grow up though.

My writing project.
For everyone, I totally forgot to mention I played MONSTER HUNTER STORIES for 3DS which also has a dragon partner you can fly with, you actually get to raise monsters from eggs which you steal from nests. There is a free demo and all DLC is also free if I recall correctly?

@Svecounia72 Ah yeah I played that one! Super cute, wish it was longer!

@HydreigonOxide I thought about joining, it indeed looked quite challenging. Are there any retired dragon species or am I able to get any with hard work?

@LiveOak I was also pretty young when I played Drakan, I lured any monster to Arokh or used hit and run tactics in caves

Dragon Quest Monsters sounds interesting, I might dust off my DS again just for those :)

I also saw Istaria! But you have to pay for a subscription to play any of the non-human races. Still, pretty unique for an MMO!

@Eleni I tried dragon's prophet! Sadly my characters got wiped :(

@Chronosplit
I FORGOT TO ADD BREATH OF FIRE ON THE LIST how sloppy of me! BOF 3 and 4 are my favorites for sure, especially the whole fusion system is rad

Dragonseeds and Tales of Maj'Eyal catch my interest, could you tell me more about those? :)

There was this game I got for DS when I was obsessed with dragons- Battle of Giants: Dragons. I'm... really not sure if the gameplay was any good, but you got to makes your own dragon- which I was very excited about at the time. It also came with them trading cards with nice art, but you'd probably have to buy those separately now.
