I've been hearing people rave about how amazing it is for forever, and only recently have I decided that maybe I should check it out. I mean, I like games where you collect things. I like Stardew Valley.
And I've heard you can put the fish you catch into aquariums, which is a plus.
So... feel free to tell me about all the things you love or hate about Animal Crossing. Funny stories, what your house looks like, etc. If I were to get one of the games, it will be New Horizons. Basically all I use my 2DS for nowadays is Pokemon Sun and Y haha

Yes, but I recommend getting New Leaf. Main reason is because of one thing, and that is Resetti, reset once and he isn’t that bad, but reset a bunch of times and ooooh you get in a world of trouble. I hated him so much and I refuse to build the Reset Center because I’m happy as is without him being around.

Animal crossing is really great if you want something relaxing to play on your own time like Stardew Valley (I really enjoy that game too). If you like collecting things, theres many ways you can do that, such as trying to catch all of the different fish or bugs for the museum, trying to get all the pieces to a specific set of furniture, collecting different fossils, and other things.

Animal crossing is a great series if you like customization and making friends with nicely designed animal characters. I've only ever played the mobile phone version, where you own a campsite, but I like it a lot and want to play the rest

If you want to collect stuff and build things at your own pace, Animal Crossing would be the perfect game. There will always be something for you to do, be it catching fish or insects, remodeling your town, collecting all types of furniture, renovating your house to match a certain theme etc etc. You don't have to rush to get things done. Just take your time and relax :)

If you can pick up New Leaf for cheap on your DS, that's an amazing game and you'll very quickly see if you like the series based off of that.
I have no doubt New Horizons will be amazing (and is the main reason I got my switch this year), but there will be some features missing I presume, as QR codes were utilised in New Leaf that really boosted customisation of your town as it develops. It'll also be way more expensive to pick up initially. ^^
