TOPIC | Recommend Me Fantasy Series To Read

I am looking for the following:

Great, well-developed characters(This is HUGE for me)

Dragons(Preferably their POV) if possible

A great, satisfying ending

Emotional moments

Thriller/horror-esq content would be great, but not necessary. I love suspense and atmosphere!

Don't recommend WOF or Warriors because I've read them(And I love WOF) and I also know everyone is going to recommend these, lol XD

This is important to me and I appreciate the help! Info about the recommended book series would help immensely. :)

I was a major hookie on WoF and Warriors but then I picked up a few interesting books:
-The Endling. GREAT book, seriously. I was just begging for another book to come out at the ending. It's about 6 governing species of intelligent animals (like humans) but surprise, surprise, the humans are actually screwing over the other governing species (ex. killing off one of the species because they can tell when someone is lying)

-The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding. Magic! Magic and demons! Follow one unfortunate kid whose family screwed over a demon and it now wants revenge.

The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede features a princess who volunteers herself into the service of a dragon. While not from the dragon's POV, the dragon characters play major roles in the stories. There are four books in total.

Tamora Pierce has written a number of fantasy novels featuring strong female characters, and her Immortals series features a dragon. I would recommend her other series too, they're all excellent.

His Majesty's Dragon by Naomi Novak is an adult fantasy series taking place in an alternate reality Napoleonic period where the British Navy uses dragons as flying war machines. I have not read the entire series but the reviews are quite good.

Hey, friendly reminder to drink water, stretch, and take a short break if you can. Stay healthy! Also, don't forget about any chores or tasks you might be putting off.
The Enchanted Forest Chronicles (Dealing with Dragons and the books following it) is one of my favorite series EVER. It's about a princess who runs away to become 'owned' by a dragon, and their adventures together. Also wizards that melt in soapy water.

It's classed as YA but it is one of the best-written fantasy series I have ever encountered. It's got just enough fun in it to make it an almost whimsical fantasy at times but it never becomes ridiculous, and the characters are all quite solidly written. To this day I'm kicking myself that I got rid of my copies of the books.

@Iokharic

I heard about His Majesty's Dragon! How are the characters, from what you read so far?

And I THINK I heard of The Enchanted Forest. I'll need to check that one out :)

@Owlynx

Is The Endling from the animal species point of view? And what are the species? That sounds really interesting :)

What's the plot? You are the second person to recommend as of now, so that means I gotta check it out!

@Nightwhisper666 The first book is pretty much what I said: basically, the main character is a princess who decides to run away to become a dragon's princess, which is a 'captured' princess who acts as the dragon's servant. But she and the dragon end up becoming friends, and foil a plot by wizards, the dragons' archnemeses. The dragon (who is female) ends up becoming the next dragon king

The main characters are Lawrence, a human, and Temeraire, a dragon who was stolen as an egg from a rival army's ship. Lawrence basically becomes Temeraire's keeper, though Temeraire is intelligent and witty.

It's a classic and only soft fantasy (no dragons) and just a very meaty book rather than a series but I'd highly recommend reading Richard Adams' Watership Down, it's my all-time favourite book by far.
all the characters are beautifully developed, it'll def hit you in the feels more than once, and the ending is so perfect it'll still get me teary the 700th time I read it
It's often overlooked as a 'kids book' (mostly because it's from the pov of cute little bunnies) but there's some real graphic violence / soft horror along the way
there's been a ton of movie/tv adaptations of it if you're interested, although I'll the recent netflix series is the only one that really does it justice

also not a series but I'm legally obligated to also recommend Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett, it's more comedy than horror (although a book containing literal demons, the antichrist and lucifer himself has to have at least a tad of horror). the characters are brilliant, there's definitely plenty of suspense and emotion/ atmosphere, the ending is more than satisfactory (although a tad confusing, the tv series conveys it a bit more clearly than the book), and it's just a wonderful experience all round

as a fellow fanwing I've had the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini recommended to me more times than I can count, although I haven't gotten to reading it yet it but it might be worth checking out

also I'm currently reading The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, and it's absolutely brilliant so far; very strong characters, beautiful magic system and all the feels, plus a healthy dose of action, suspense and hints of horror, so I'll recommend the His Dark Materials series too
