I have had serious suspicions that I'm an aspie, because I check out at most symptoms and have honestly wondered while growing up if I wasn't mentally impaired - I've done a lot of work with myself and I'm much more socially adept, although not where I'd want to be.

I can't get diagnosed because in my country autistic spectrum diagnoses are apparently just for children and I was an adult already when I learned about Asperger's and figured that it sounds surprisingly accurate to my life experiences.
In my case, getting a diagnose would just be a confirmation of my suspicions, not an excuse for bad behaviour or means of attention seeking. Sometimes, it's pretty heartbreaking when you say on the internet that you suspect having Asperger's and everybody jums on your for trying to be a an attention *****. As if learning difficulties/mental disorders were cool. Because they're seriously not.

I hate the term "aspie", but I wasn't diagnosed with Asperger's until I was 17 (fat lot of good that did). My mom still doesn't believe I have it (she said I was "reading the diagnosis wrong" even though I got multiple other people to read a copy of it and they confirmed that it did say that was the diagnosis) so that's fun. I'm almost 20 now and have never had a job and can't drive and am a college drop out so, again, fun fun fun.

I've been confirmed to not have Asperger's, but that just puts me back in the "then what IS it" boat. My mental health team (because yes I have to have a TEAM I'm so screwed up) agrees that I have SOMETHING. It's just...that something is what?

C'mon guys! Don't be so down on yourself. My best friend is an aspie, and I love her the way she is, and I bet I would love all of you the way you are.

I've cried more than she has when I see people bully her, and no, being friends with her doesn't exactly make me popular. Quite the opposite, and I dont f***ing care. Everyone who doesn't love her the way she is can go to h*ll. Being different doesn't make you bad. It makes you, you, and I sure as hell would DIE than be a shallow person who gives people crap because they're different.

I'm not proud of it, but I'll tell you this. One time, my aspie friend stole the bathroom key and was running around with it in class shouting "I am Katie, lord of the toilets."

Some a**hole grabbed her and pinned her arms behind her back till she was crying and dropped the key.

I was tempted to FEED him that key, I was. Instead, I got into his face and told him if he ever touched her again, I would beat him till he was bloody. (Plus or minus a few more expletives.)

I have a saying for when my friend askes me if I think shes weird, cause she likes ponies or cause she can't drive;

Weird isn't the problem, It's the normal people that scare me.

I have Asperger's, as does my mom and my brother as PDD-NOS, so we're one big ASD family here XD

I don't mind having it. Yes, it makes things difficult in life but it also has a lot of positive sides ^_^

I'm a diagnosed aspie. To be honest I don't mind having the diagnosis. I could certainly use some extra people skills for sure, but I'm confident they'll improve with work. I knew this before I was diagnosed, and the diagnosis haven't really changed anything.

I'm not (at least I don't think I am, although I think I am on the spectrum somewhere), but I just recently found out that my 6 year old son is an Aspie. It's been interesting so far.

My brother is an 'aspie.' He's 18 and we found out about it when he was around 14 or 15. Though things are hard for him and the rest of the family, he's really smart, so I suppose that's a bonus.
I have a few symptoms of it but that's all.
