TOPIC | *Resolved* Accent Transparency
So I was working on an accent, but when I went to merge the visible layers, the shadow layer is no longer darkens. It just becomes an unpleasant cream layer that blocks and dragon I try to preview underneath it. The tutorial shows that only the part you draw on for the accent is visible, but mine shows all of the lines and shadows. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Sorry if I'm not explaining the problem clearly, but I don't know how else to describe it.

Is the problem that the accent I'm making is mostly transparent? If so, do I just try to carefully erase all the sections I didn't use? Sorry if I asked too many questions. I'm just trying to get all the information that may be relevant up here.

@Ilidragon When you merged layers, it turned off the multiply of the shadow layer. Multiply makes it so the color will automatically darken in accordance to the color on the layer under it. I think the solution for this would be to not merge the layers ^_^

Do you not have to merge the layers to submit an accent? Also, I'm thinking that's what the problem is.

I'm using Krita. I'll see if I can just open it in another program and see if that works. Thank you for all your help!

Layers do not need to be merged. "Merge all your existing layers using the “Merge Visible” command." sounds like a necessary step for Photoshop to export or resize properly. Merging layers makes no effect in some programs except to do weird things, like in this case to remove the multiply effect.

As long as the final png keeps the shadows and lines intact and displaying correctly, it doesn't matter what you do with your layers, since layer data will never show up in a png. If Krita exports it fine without merging the layers, then there is no need to merge the layers.
