Honestly, you're best off searching for "hatchery" in the help forum to see a wide variety of answers.

I'm pretty sure they'll boil down to "have nice pairs, have nice graphics without it being cluttered, breeding cards are good and don't put your hatchery under 7 paragraphs of boring lore" but it might be good to get different viewpoints.

Hatcheries seldom take off, though. Don't expect it to be a big earner!

UK time. Sorry for timezone-related delays in responses. They/Them.

The very and most important thing to keep in mind is, a hatchery is not a quick or easy way to make a profit. In truth you will end up putting more time and effort into running one, than reaping quick rewards. With that in mind, if you enjoy breeding your dragons and think of opening a hatchery as a means to display that's great! I'll list below some things I've found helpful when I setup mine.

My hatchery has been running for over a year and here are some pointers that might be helpful.
Sorry if it is lengthy.

I used this guide to get me started on opening my hatchery.

  • Keeping up on current genes is a must. If your hatchery has a theme be sure your pairs represent that. Color is also important, try to find combinations that aren't as broadly done in other hatcheries.
  • Don't be afraid to scour the AH for ideas on current popular gene/color combinations. You can also use this tool to help you price your dragons.
  • Keep the range of your colors small. Having a dragon pair that has a big color range can be a pain to sell because you can not guarantee that you can produce that color combination again. My personal taste is no more than five colors away from each other, less is better because you have more control over what is produced.
  • Post your dragons on the AH and notify people on your thread that they can be purchased.
I will bump my thread and delete the post so it gets bumped but doesn't create clutter.
  • Keep to a nesting schedule. This way you will always have dragons either nesting or ready to sell.
  • Find affiliates. People who look at their threads might look at yours. Utilize that free advertising, bump their thread if that is ok with them.
  • I have a coliseum team to level the dragons that don't sell and exalt them. You do not have to do this but I do find it helps recoup some of the cost.
  • Alchemy is a good resource, use it to make skink/spinner, poison/toxin, pinstripe/trail or bogsneak eggs. You can easily sell either egg or gene, or use the genes for yourself. Also selling the broken down materials can be helpful.

here are some tips I use!

-I sometimes look at other people's hatchery's to help guide me! It helps a lot!

-Keep bumping that page! If you bump the page, more people will see it!

-Advertising! In your signature, it's really helpful to put a link to your hatchery there! More people will know it exists!

-Get affiliates! They also help advertise your hatchery! They also help bump your thread!

-Always ask for help! Don't be shy! Whether its coding, or just some tips, it always helps!

thats all i have right now! i hope it helped!
