TOPIC | Unique colors?
Does a dragon having a relatively unique color combination make it more valuable? Like, say if only 4 dragons had specific colors and only 1 wasn’t exalted, is that a dragon you wanna keep around or try to sell, or is it really meaningless in actual value?

And where does the “rare/unique” colors stop? Like, what’s the limit? Do exalted dragons count much for how unique it is? How does this work

@2orsomething in a majority of cases, having “rare” colors will not raise the price of a dragon. In fact, most “rare” color combos are rare for a reason (i.e, they’re ugly by most people’s standards) so it may actually lower their price.

As to where it stops, that’s entirely subjective, though from what I’ve seen the threshold seems to be 1-10 active dragons.

For future reference, questions go in the help center.

@2OrSomething As someone who has bought rare color combo dragons because they're rare color combos, it hasn't been because they're inherently more valuable— it's because I saw a dragon at fodder/barely above fodder price who I thought was lovely, stopped, checked color rarity, and if it was something reasonably common that I might be able to find again, decided not to buy yet. In other words, rare color combos have made me purchase that specific dragon I already liked rather than waiting to see if another might be born sometime in the future. I didn't buy the dragon for its rarity, but because I liked it a lot already and thought I might not ever have a chance to get a dragon like that again.

My two cents as someone who's bought a few rare color combos.

@2orSomething

They're generally not valuable.

Mostly, rare combos are rare for a reason -- most people consider 'em ugly. I mean, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but generally speaking, rare combos are rare because nobody bothered to breed them.

Also keep in mind, if you ever buy or sell for the 'first dragon with this combo' reason, just because it's first now doesn't mean it always will be.

Somebody can easily scatter an older dragon and end up on that combination, meaning your 'first of [combo]' is no longer looking that way in a search list of them.
