Hey,
I was just curious as to why they decided to change the start of festivals from end of rollover maintenance to 6am FR time. Don’t remember seeing why.
When the site first began, we implemented and kicked off holidays during the rollover period as a matter of technical necessity. We were a young site, and in case there were issues with the deployment, we wanted to make sure we utilized the already-scheduled maintenance to take care of it.
As we've grown, the technical reason for deploying the holiday at rollover has become less necessary, as those processes have become more defined, more routine, and our site is that much more stable. That being said, implementing a holiday still requires manual work, and that work (as Aequorin mentioned) is being conducted at what amounts to 3:00am (EST) for most of our team. That's not a great time slot for those that don't normally work a night shift, so we are looking to bring the festivals into a more comfortable time period for our team to be present, engaged, and have a night's rest beforehand. While we certainly don't mind launching the holidays at rollover, this is going to be a healthier move for us as a team to better support the site and Undel through her recovery.

As someone who lives in the european timezone of GMT, GMT+1, GMT+2 (it switches because of summer/winter time going back and adding an hour) I have to say I am very displeased about the time changing from rollover to 6:00 FR time.
The only people this caters to is Americans, and people living in the same timezone as America.

Hello @inuraichi!
We're shifting the start and end time of the Thundercrack Carnivale to accommodate our employees who will be implementing the festivals. We are not cutting the festivals short. The Lightning flight's festival will start on July 22nd at 06:00 server time and end on July 29th at 06:00 server time.
Rollover for the majority of our team is not midnight, but 3:00 am local time. Given Undel's reduced presence for an undetermined amount of time (at this moment), we are making the necessary changes to maintain the health and well-being of Flight Rising team members. This also allows them to monitor the festival start and address any possible issues or bugs sooner rather than later.
That being said, we also understand and appreciate that shifting the start and end times of the festivals after five years can feel frustrating. When we made this decision, we knew this would have a more immediate impact our international players. This is why we are committed to reminding our community of this change throughout the month of July. We are also working on a way to notify players to hold onto their Gathering turns between 00:00 and 06:00 server time on July 22nd.
If you would like to share any additional feedback or thoughts with us on this change, we ask players to send them to us through Contact Us, so we can keep the thread focused on Undel and supporting her recovery.
